newbie mapping question: how can I delete cubes? [SOLVED]

Postby Wounded Ronin » Wed Sep 19, 07 7:07 am

I've got another ultra-newbie mapping question.

I've noticed that if I create a filled-in shape in one of my rooms, eg. a small cube, and then continue mapping, and then later decide that I want to delete the small cube, that I cannot just right click on the cube and delete it like I can with objects. When I right click on the cube in the 3D view I don't see a Delete option coming up.

I've also noticed that a lot of the tutorial lessons online tell you how to add things but usually not how to delete things. :)

If someone could fill me in on basic object deletion, I would be very grateful.

Select one or more brushes/actors (hold CTRL to select more then one), then press DEL to delete, and then rebuild geometry.

Another way is to simply right click it and select delete. then Rebuild. whichever way works best for you.

Yes, you can't right click shapes in the 3D view. Notice the Top view window? (2D view) Try rightclicking it there instead.

You can select the brushes in 3d window if you set the window mode to Map Perspective.

Click on the coloured outline of the shape in one of the 2d views, then rightclick -> delete.

To see the shape actually disappear in the 3d view you will need to rebuild geometry: F8 -> rebuild geometry.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I think I was having a combination problem of trying to delete through the 3D view, and also not fully appreciating the role of Rebuild Geometry. Thanks to everyone for the help.
