Deus Ex: Desperation

The story begins with the agent descending from a helicopter onto the helipad in sub-terra #001. Sub terra’s were set up after the war of 2054, with developments in technology and worldwide destruction, sub terranian cities were developed and the highest of society began to live here, eventually though many others joined them once the cities lost their exclusivity. Some however still remain enclaves of high society and organisations.

Terrorist attacks on surface and then threats of attacks on Sub Terra's mean you have to find out who are behind the attacks and what links them to Sub Terra #001

It's not groundbreaking, it's not really awe-inspiring, but for those that know me, all I really do in DX is map so I've learnt as I've gone along, theres some half decent mapping in my opinion, some nice dialogue and loads of little details to keep you interested. ALSO UNDERGROUND CANYON?!

Below are some shots I've taken, most of what you see is by no means finished. Two maps are completely completed, though they are small and ironically I didn't think to take any shots of them..

Comments are welcome. Especially if anyone knows how to make border buildings look a little more interesting lol..

Update:

Been working on it quite a bit. The helipad where you start is completely finished and if explored well, gives you about 10 minutes gameplay on its own (considering its comparable in size to the everetts helipad isnt bad!) Your first time at HQ is almost finished too, just a few more bits of conversation to be added.

As well as that the look of District 1 will be changing drastically. It was in my opinion too large and unwieldly to detail appropriately (as rebuilding geometry took forever) but I think the break up works well in game play and flow of levels!

Another small level thats quite important in story development is more or less finished, just one door seems to hate me, so I just have to finish that off!

In addition I noticed a plot hole which has now been addressed which in fact gets you extra gameplay by adding another place, which Im looking forward to mapping :D

I've spent countless hours writing out conversations and extra text like newspapers, books and datacubes and testing them out and its labour intensive, but its looking good :D

Update:

Been working on District 1 the last couple of days. As I said I split it in two and its made it much more manageable and has allowed me to add more for exploration! The first half contains Agency HQ, la creux dimanche (the club/bar/hotel in district 1), ways to district 2 and the second half of district 1 as well as lots of additional places to explore, like the ordnance store.

Im really excited about this one :D

Update:

A little bit of progress on District 1. Brushwork is more or less finished, all that remains its bits and bobs for detail and the exits/entrances to la creux dimance and the ordnance store as well as the transition to the second half of district 1. The long process of detailing has started!

I've virtually completed la creux dimanche, district 1's bar and hotel. A swanky affair. This weekend/next week I hope to have completed the conversations and mission work for LCD and the ordnance store!

Watch this space for more sshots.

Yeah I suppose I should've updated this. I still work on this sporadically and am a lot further than I was. Based on how often I work on this, I'll probably have something worth releasing by next summer lol.

I'll post a proper update in a bit.
