[SERIOUS REQUEST] Deus Ex Co-op Mod.

Postby Shinobi » Wed May 25, 11 10:41 pm

Right...
I've played all the mods, many MP games and co-op mods (including the fantastic HL2 series using the synergy mod), but nothing could even come close to the possibility of playing Deus Ex SP online with friends.

Is this mod seriously possible? I've seen attempts, including the rydberg field one, buggy but hell it's more than I could do.

Can any of you out there help do it? I know I can't.

I REALLY REALLY want this mod. More than P2027, Facetown, hell, even more than I wanted DX:HR to have MP... I NEED this lol.

Can anybody offer a serious offer of help?

It's definitely possible-

-but requires a lot of time, and dedication (something the majority of us no longer have). I might help with the project sometime, but I'm sort of working a lot more hours recently.

I think it would be worth it. I'm thinking something like Synergy for HL2, but perhaps with extras like an enhanced chat system, etc. I'm assuming it's impossible to have a sort of multiplayer save system?

Another brill co-op game I forgot to mention is SS2. Ancient but still GREAT fun to play online.

AG's combo of Stealth/Engineer was a pretty sexy co-op game.
the forthcoming SG Cathedral map will also feature co-op elements, it will be impossible to control certain things by yourself.

Hejhuka's Arena mod on Drunkard's server, that was pretty much co-op, if you wanted to live.

What would really help is more AG maps.

Agreed, but you're missing my point. I want the opportunity to play the amazingly awesomely astoundingly wicked SINGLEPLAYER campaign online with friends.

I like AG but I love the DX1 story more.

What you're asking will - most likely - take years to develop.

Not to mention figuring out how to do it. Will it support spawning mods for classes (e.g. Bowen and Nobody's placement mods) or would you have to change each map?

co op balance and systems in full will need to be looked at along with latency/stability.

If you can figure out how to modify the sp maps an be able to save them in udk.. i think it can be done in a relatively short time. I was gonna half ass it solo, but got stuck before i could get started.. lol.

UDK?

I think it's probably really complicated, many great mods been made for DX but every effort I've seen at this has royally sucked lol. Not that that's a criticism, I can't code, but I just wish somebody would do it. Best game I've ever played, followed very closely by HL2 and the episodes, but can't enjoy the story and combine knowledge of maps with friends.

Poo.

I'll have a look though, not that I can really do anything, but I can probably have a look at the rydberg field thingy if the mod isn't protected.
