Cool types of grenades...?

Postby Allan » Thu Aug 03, 06 5:21 pm

Can anyone think of a cool effect to go into a grenade...? So far, i've got:

All Damage type grenade,
Flash-Bang,
Incendary gas grenade...

Can anyone else think of some other cool types of grenades to make...? I've got plans for a slo-mo grenade, but it effects the whole server. I've got a version with a fast-mo grenade, with the same effect...

So... any other things I can stick in a grenade, and blow up in players faces?

I can't seem to find a good enough texture to use for the gas, else I would have made them...

Any other ideas for extremely cool/stupid/freaky grenades?

Just make your own texture with Gimp/Photoshop.

Use WOTGreal image conversion tool in the program. Then to import put it in a Textures folder under your mods name so you would have two folders 'Classes, Textures' I think, then.... (Crap i formatted my pc)....

No Klop, you're a moron, you don't need any fancy programs. WOTGreal sucks.

Anyway, to ICE, in the folder for your package, you need to do 2 things:

1. Make a 'Textures' folder and place your textures in there.

2, Go to your 'Classes' folder and for each texture you want to import, add this line (in any class):
Code: Select all
#exec TEXTURE IMPORT NAME=texname FILE=Textures\texfile.bmp GROUP=Skins

- texname is the name you want the imported texture to be called
- texfile is the name of the image-file itself (it can be either bmp or pcx, so change the line accordingly)
- group is the group of the texture, but this doesn't really matter. I've put "skins" here because you're making a skin, but it doesn't matter, you can go without the group bit at all actually.

N.B. The image dimensions have to be powers of 2, e.g.
Code: Select all
2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256

in any combination, eg, 256 x 16 or 64 x 64.

If you need any more help just give me a shout.

No maiman your the moron, what if he wants to use jpeg format or png etc. Deus Ex can only use bitmap and PCX. SO you have to convert them in alot of cases. =.=

No, I mean the image sizes have to be those numbers that I listed up there. Just download a basic image-resizing and image-converting program (or use MS Paint) to resize them to that size and save as .bmp.

Gishank wrote:what if he wants to use jpeg format or png etc. Deus Ex can only use bitmap and PCX. SO you have to convert them in alot of cases.

Then he will convert them like EVERYONE else does, using paint or another image-editing program. I know that you have "issues" and you find it difficult to open MS-Paint, but I'm sure he will cope fine.

Converting something in paint takes 2 seconds: open the file > save as > .bmp. Easy as.

Klop, just because a program is designed for the Unreal engine, doesn't make it any better - how is a WOTGreal image editor better than MS-Paint? You're a fool, WOTGreal is designed for retards like you who can't do anything themselves, so they get a special program to do it for them. Why don't you learn to use a computer? No wonder you're reformatting all the time - because you download all this shit that you don't need. You have this spasticated attitude of "Omg IM g0nna D()WNL0ad This JuST beC4use it ExisSTS, but I DOnt AkTuAA.,ly n33d it!! w00t I r h4x0r"

ICE wrote:Yea I no I have to convert them its just that i didnt no what dx meant by the powers of 2 erm how would I change the size to the ones listed above.

Well powers of two i meant, like in maths:
Code: Select all
2² = "2 to the power of 2" = 4

Code: Select all
2³ = "2 to the power of 3" = 8

etc.

Those have to be the sizes.

To see the size of the pic, right-click -> click "properties -> select "summary" tab, and the ones you want are the width and the height. To change the width/height go to any image-editing program (not paint) and there should be some resize thing.

Although you can crop (cut some bits off) the image in Paint if you want, by dragging the bottom-right corner up and left.

You can download a free program here, or you might have some basic program like 'Microsoft photo editor' on your computer already.

Meh, still my point is proved, you can't use any format unless it's been conerted in dx.

What? Are you spastic? No seriously, this isn't an insult, I'm actually worried now. :?

Or maybe your eyesight is failing? Let me put the font up in that case:

How in God's name was your sodding point proven?

It doesn't have to be "conerted in dx" as you put it, just:
1. Save it as .bmp or .pcx with the correct image-size.
2. Get UCC.exe to import it.

Hard? Maybe for you, but not for others. No WOTGreal or DX involved pumpkin. 8)

NO you for the love of god your not listening. Say if you take a photo and upload it to your pc it's most likely jpeg format. IF you open it up in MS-Paint and save it as some other format you are fucking converting it to that format.

Back to the point though, I didn't prove your point, because:

Your point was that you needed some WOTGreal image conversion thing.

Don't try to change it now, because it's true, and anyone reading the posts up there will be able to see that.
(Yes I know you will edit those posts now to say "I don't think so, maybe you think differently? LOSE I SAY USE PAINT" instead of "IF U WANNA BE 1337 LYK ME DEN USE WOTGREAL")

Edit: Anyway, I don't have time to argue with you, you're ignorant as a bent penis anyway. This is just spamming now.

I only said you could use WOTGreal to convert them and you go off on one saying that wotgreal sucks, and that you don't need it. You don't have to convert you just import them. Ffs, idiot.

If you have the original file (jpeg or whatever it was before), save that one as a bmp image, and try again (also change the import line to say .bmp instead of .pcx)

Also, there is no limitation to the size. 256 is not the limit. You can go even further, 512, 1024 etc, but it still has to be by the powers of 2.

All you have to do is save as .bmp?

I saved it as a special gif with uh, I can't remember how many colours.

No probs. If you do use pcx, you have to set the colour-depth to 8-bit (256 colours), and reducing the colour depth reduces the quality of the image.

Now with bmp you can just use any colour depth; in my mod a lot of textures are imported from 24-bit colour depth bmps. (24-bit = 16.7 million colours)

Bmp rocks my world.
