Why do people...

Why do you lot hate DX:IW so much? I started playing it yesterday and found it to be quite an amazing game... You say it has nothing to do with the first game, maybe you hadn'tt realised the several people from the first game in the second? Maybe you hadn't realised that all the main factions are based off events in the first game, no?

I started playing it yesterday

THIS IS WHY WE HATE IT.

Problem is that the first DX was an awesome game. People expected the sequel to be as good, but it wasn't, so all DX-fans were disappointed as it did not live up to their expectations. The game is still a good game, but not as good as the first DX.

Thank you Klop for being one of the only people that agrees with me!

I personally think it is more fun to play than the First Deus Ex, it has alot of new features, better graphics... Ect. Sure, it has no multiplayer, but that could be added.

If enough people wee interested. I tink it was complete bullshit how they didn't release an SDK because with Havok it would be 'too hard'. And universal ammo SUCKS. That should be the first thing changed.

Personally, I think SDK before multiplayer. We could destroy universal ammo forever. And if anyone hates the blurry textures, Voila! (not mine)

coz my prefered ending was that jc accept the offer of daedalus...

but in IW jc chose the tracer tong ending

else the story is stupid and the game became boring after 1 - 2 days

Are you stupid? Their is such a thing called the Cannonical ending. Take Silent Hill, the Cannonical ending is Good.

#True, there are a few shite points like universel ammo. Though i love saving up Spiderbot Nades then chucking them all in secondary fire into a room chockablock full of enemies. Or take this tactic for example...

(If you have Blackmarket lvl 3 Domination biomod)
*Military Bot is outside area you need to get to.
*Run up behind it and right-click
*Run into the shadows...
*CAUSE HAVOK! =D

i have just started playing it, and i like it, i only get 20 fps thou :(. universal ammo is kinda lame, but not the end of the world. Im going round reading all the news papers, books, datacubes, and its interesting all the references to the first dx. the reason im playing it is to get a sense of nostalgia from the 1st game :).

It can't be completed in an hour you tool!

DX:IW is slow to begin with, but then it gradually becomes more brutal. :P Like SAW III

MY POINT, THOUGH SLIGHTLY EXAGGERATED, IS STILL POIGNANT.

ITS FAR TOO SHORT, YOU UTENSIL.

I liked DX:IW, just not as much as the first DX. Universal fucking ammo fucking sucked my fucking ass. I mean, in real life. You wouldn't expect a shotgun to use the same ammo as a pistol. Even if it is 50 fucking years in the future!

Other than that, it was okay. Though I think most of the endings were shit.

They got lazy and so they used universal ammo.

and they liked it so they didn't grant us an SDK

As far as I remember they had announced that they had changed all ammo to universal one or two months before they released the demo. I don't think it was planned in the beginning.

Nothing stops DX:IW from being Modded. You just need to crack the source code. And vola. After that, study the code, and functions, then you can implement modding and mapping. Also, might i add, the map files are .unr, so it might give a clue to as what engine it is on to crack the source ;)

EDIT:

In addition. It is confirmed to be based on an Unreal engine, after opening DX2Game.d2u in notepad. Seriously, it doesn't take a genius to crack source code.

Gishank wrote:You just need to crack the source code.

ahahaha, that's practically impossible

Everyone knows it's on Unreal Engine. But it's so-called Unreal Warfare engine — heavily modified by Ion Storm. In their modification, e.g. maps have to be compiled, so there is no way to open a map without it's source.

Yes, cracking the code you could do. But not getting caught wouldn't be so easy when you're trying to mod it for the public. So if Eidos caught you, you'd be fucked in the face.

Also, http://www.failmath.com/reviews/dx2.htm - That is a good review, Protocol. Lol. 'Bouts sums DX2 up pretty much. Though I still sorta liked DX:IW, I wouldn't rate it higher then a 5/10.

Okay then, go ahead and steal the source code. Sorry, TRY to. First, we'll see how long it takes you to do it. Then we'll see how long it takes for you to make a mod (small or large), post it publicly and see how long Eidos takes to react.

Stealing the source code for DX:IW would be Copyright Infringment you dipshit. Seriously, are you really that stupid? If, and only if, Eidos did find out, you could be sued.

Sure, DX:IW is an old and dead game. But Eidos won't probably give a rats ass about that. Considering by suing you, they're more likely to win and you'll be fucked.

Now that I think about it. Sounds like a good idea! Go ahead and do it, Klop! I double dare yah!

Hmm I wouldn't mind seeing klop being prosecuted for stealing code.
