Game won't start

Hello!
I just replayed the first Deus Ex and I pretend to continue the quest for a AI controlled civilization playing the game sequel. Unfortunally Deus Ex Invisible War is not even opening.

The system is a Windows 7 Home Premium x64, i5 processor, notebook.

Any tips? :P

Thanks!

I just tested a version downloaded from piratebay and I got the same problem, so it is happening with the original CD version I have and the pirated DVD I just downloaded attempting to play the game.

I can not even patch the versions to 1.2 because the updater does not detects the files! That is happening to both versions.

Is your videocard not of Nvidia?

My video card is the integrated Intel HD which comes with i3,i5,i7 :p, it is not that bad card, can run games with heavier graphics than Deus Ex Invisible War.

If I remember correctly.. if it's Intel videocard the game just doesn't work no matter what.. now I'm not that expert in those sort of stuff but that's how I remember it.
Do you have any friend/other PC which have another videocard instead of Intel? try it there.

I wouldn't suggest gaming on it. I have had to replace motherboards in PC's all the time because customers like to play an assortment of games on their on-board chip.

It should be fine to run older games however though.

Butbutbut I can run some moderate graphics modern games on it, DX:IW shouldn't be a problem. I suspect it is the x64 OS, I built a Windows Xp virtual machine with VirtualBox and I could run the game there, laggy, but it is because of the emulated VirtualBox graphics adapter.

I have x64 Win 7 Ultimate as well. I can run L4D2, TF2, what not with this Intel chipset thingie.. I had NVidia before, I could run it but after it fried I couldn't... so that's why I said that you need something other than Intel.
It's not just for that fact, but I remember searching in teh internets and found that DX:IW can't run on Intel VGA stuff.. some sort of their policy.. SO YEAH.

It isn't a question of "can you run it?"

It's a question of "should you run it?"

Generally on board chips are not meant for gaming, and do not have the proper cooling. It's an issue of heat. If you ARE going to risk your motherboard though: It's better if it's a desktop computer opposed to a laptop.

I had Intel GMA3100 before, I couldn't run it, but I bought a low-end card (ATI Radeon HD5450), and it runs IW, so maybe the game doesn't support Intel GPUs

GREAT!

I thought I would run the game with no lag using this i5, fail. C'mon, it ran FarCry 3, Bad Company 2! I hate the DX IW engine.

EDIT: HOPE SHOWS UP! This is the same graphics card.

I installed Windows XP 32 bits on a separate HD partition and I got the game working! Funny how the old Deus Ex (2000) runs on x64 and IW, which is newer, does not.

EDIT:

Guys, I just got the game working on Windows 7 by using a cracked exe! I guess the DVD check algorithm was the problem. No need to install Windows XP.
