Actually that would be rather cool..... like pointing your webcam at your webcam's output on the screen..

I once created a texture with 110 frames. It worked. Couldn't go more than 100, I actually had converted about 200 textures for the animation. Damn UED dint imported it. :(

I've got a map with a small animated tex ripped from a FRAPS vid of DX:HR preview build.

Highest colour depth it managed was 16 bit, btw. BMP.

Animated texs I THINK can be made as long as ya want but you'd have to manually link them together which, in my case, would take AGES.

Thinking of a map with an electronics store, wanted wall-to-wall televisions with different "programmes" playing on some of them.

and got some ideas for a sorta museum map with those button-triggered exhibitions. is it possible to make an animated tex start playing at the pres of a button??

There's no way to start or stop an animation from playing. However, some hacky way perhaps, I've no clue though.

Spose I'll have to create an alcove or something, zone it off, make it pitch black, put animated tex on brush in this block and use some sort of light trigger but I don't know how this is done lol

You could just put a fast moving mover ahead of that texture, comes ahead of it when you press the button, moves away from it when you press it again.. you get?

Yeah true. Thing is it wont start from the beginning of the animation. Might just stick to the tv shop idea, eh.

trying to think of cool stuff to do with animated texs. Wonder if there's a way of synching sound to the animation?? anim tex will start soon as map loads, could put vids sound actor right next to "screen" maybe, would this be possible??

Scripted textures are dynamic textures that are scripted.
