Most of them worked for me back in the day, however there was some trick... if only I could remember it.

Wasn't it manually loading all textures beforehand?

Right! And missing stuff is shown in logs.

Yeah. When you add the brush into the map, it should automaticlly load the textures. It worked for me when I made the Plane.

Once mapping gets more serious, the amount of brushes increases and the overall geometry becomes more complex I recommend you shouldn't use prefabs at all. Prefabs sometimes merge tens of brushes into a single very complex one and the Unreal Engine tends to not handle these complex brushes very well, because you are very likely to get BSP errors with these. If you need something from an already existing map, you will get a long easier by just using copy paste in the long run.

Usually Unreal Engine says it can't handle anything over 100.

What do you mean?

If I import anything that contains over 100 brushes, They will not come out right

True that! 8)

Oh man, I miss mapping more than anything right now. Too bad I don't have any of my old work stored anywhere these days. I would just love to take a look at them just to get inspired to work on something new :) Though the fact propably is Deus Ex isn't worth it anymore :(

I thought it's not 100 brushes, but more like 500 polygons :)
Try to make a high-poly deco in a modeller software, then import it, I think if it has more than 100 polys, then u'll get many BSP holes

1. Press F7
2. In the 3D editor view, switch from "lighting" or "texture" mode to "perspective", you should now see a wireframe view in 3D.
3. Press F8, don't touch anything at all
4. Hit rebuild
5. SAVE
6. switch from "perspective" back to "texture" or "lighting".

Face taught me this. You will be amazed how it rebuilds maps that you thought were totally screwed.

HOWEVER.

Your map is probably crashing due to some problem with prefabs.

I use Fuhrpark mod a lot, any attempt to subtract into prefabs, or to resize them and you are risking total failure. If it works, then congrats, but probably most prefabs have already been intersected (3rd button down on right), therefore can not be again without causing some horrible error.

There's a 747 in Fuhrpark too, as well as a Transall C-160 and some kind of Russian Bomber, it's like the "Bear", but with jet engines. There's also a ton of fighters and spaceships.

F7? How is that related to rebuilding? :?

I learned from Face and Chinny that F7 significantly shortens the rebuild time, if F7 is pressed just before rebuilding. ( I mean, compile scripts, I assume it's still F7)
