DaveW's New Vision Mod - MP .dds conversion

Postby Shinobi » Thu Jan 31, 13 12:45 pm

Hi.
DaveW never got round to releasing a .dds conversion of his New Vision textures.

Anybody fancy giving me some tips? I'd like to convert them all to .dds format so we could have high quality textures while playing online. But, err, I don't know how.

I did do it a few years back, can't remember what software I used but I do remember there being a shedload of options, most of which I don't understand.

Could somebody basically advise me on a way to batch convert the textures into the highest possible quality .dds files? Filesize is not an issue, quality is the most important.

Thanks.

Going to have to circumvent the forum's anti-spam setup I'm afraid:

http://rapidshare.com/files/616577084/F ... %20Copy.7z

Pus you will need the masked textures which are in the .UTX files of the SDK (find it on ModDB). They will need to be saved as DXT2/3 so they have an alpha channel.

Some of the textures will also have a scaling issue, since I used a trick to get larger textures ingame that only works with the .UTX method I used for the main release. To get these textures to work you'll want to crop them by half and make sure they still tile. These are most of the textures in CoreTexEarth, grass in Batterypark/CoreTexFoliage, two wall textures in Helibase and three roof textures in CoreTexWood. There may be others, but I think that's all of them.

Ah. I didn't know it when I posted that, but I think Rapidshare only allows one downloader per link. Because someone else has already downloaded it, it's gone inactive.

Shinobi, I'll PM you the link if you aren't the person who already downloaded it.
