ok,

1) Create door out of "add brush to world" brush
2) goto Actors -> Brushes -> Deus Ex mover and select it
3) make sure that the ORANGE brush is perfectly alligned with the BLUE brush
4) (This is where I think you are going wrong) with the ORANGE brush PERFECTLY ALLIGNED with the BLUE brush hit create mover
5) Move away the ORANGE brush and DELETE the Blue Brush leaving the PURPLE brush intact

Thats it. Looks like you know how to set up keyframes so I will let you take it from there

off topic: i havent already understood if i'd better use ued2 or not... :?
i'm afraid it could screw anything up or just make mapping more complex... mah
or maybe i could make the map in ued1 and then *compile* it in ued2 to enjoy the better bsp optimization... boh. suggestions?

I'm gonna stick with ued1. I'm learing to use that and I'll be good at it soon. I figured how to make doors and am doing great. You might like the level I'm making. It's not a n00b map. It's interesting and I'm learning as I go how to do stuff. :)
This mapping is almost as fun as playing for me.
E ven better playing when you can also say that you made the map :)

all i do to make a door is:

1.make red brush

2.size the brush into the shape of a door

3.click Brush>Mover>Deus Ex Mover

4.click a texture

5.press add brush to world

6.press Ctrl+N

7.press add movable brush

8.subtract

there we go.....i explained it very clearly if i do say so my self

exactly it is good choice, but i think UED2 is more suitable (except placing items - but i can do it in UED1) and design of interface looks much better :P And UED1 crashes much more than UED2. Thats why on FunLine Crossfire tank turret is not binded: UED1 crashed after i fixed that and i forgot about it :P

daedalus, i wasnt expecting such errors from you!!!! (joking... )

to make a door (in ued1 at least):
make a cube
add it to the world
texture it
make another cube bigger than it
intersect brush
select brush->mover->deusexmover
press add mover
delete the addition brush

i believe it works with subtraction brush too but i cant remember at the moment
