This is about a modification I made.
The modification MMUserInterface (found here).

As of V1.5 it checked on our server if the version of the mod was the latest version. Not only did it check the version, but it also sent information to the server.

It did not sent a hell lot, it sent the following data:

- Username
- IP-address
- Computer name
- Used console (default Engine.Console)
- Date & time

This information was logged in a databas. Did we really use this information?
Not a lot. We discovered some cheaters which we confronted and banned. We discovered some imposters which we also unmasked, publically, in servers.

For the rest, this information had no use to us. We just had fun, I guess.


At this moment, it still sends data to our server, yet the page on our server no longer exists, nor does the database. Nothing gets logged.

EDIT: Also, barely any [A] member knew of this. So don't blame others, only me.

Meh, I have no problem with it gaining any of that info, personally.

Any website can record the IP address and computer you browse it on, it's not hard. Same with date and time and your hostname (in this case, username).

I've always wondered how they get away with breaking the whole "Do not make a alternative account, this will result in permanent ban on discovery" rule.
