Webbased Deus Ex Server Lister

I made a quick page for Lurker and I decided to expand it a bit today.

http://www.dxalpha.com/files/list/

It now also records the playercounts of servers so you can see a graph of the usage of a server.

The script is highly in beta and is still buggy and can have bad performance.

One of the servers is called: "You're requesting the wrong port - what faulty server query tool are you using?!"

Don't know if it has anything to do with your tool or not and which server it's supposed to be.

Yeah, I already noticed that this afternoon, seems like a misconfigured Nephthys.

Thanks Alex, this is pretty cool.

Nice Alex, would it be possible to extend the range of the timeline from 24hrs to say 1 week? If so it would be very useful information.

Yeah, I would need to optimize it though. And mind you, it's been recording for only 24 hours now, so it doesn't have enough data for a full week yet.

EDIT: Figured out how to optimize it properly, will do so when I get home.

Optimized it a bit, still not entirely as I want it, but it shows up to 2 weeks now.

Awesome tool.

Will it detect new servers, or we need to tell you like we tell gametracker?

PostPosted: Tue May 31, 11 2:22 pm

It checks the gamespy masterserver and adds new servers as they are added to the MS.

I like this a lot. Bit redundant for those of us with DXSL but not everyone knows of that tool.
Is it possible to add more info, such as server description or whatever. I used to use phgstats I think it was called, and realised there was the potential to catch more output from the server.

LONG LIVE YOUR PLAYER POSITION SCRIPT BTW! R.I.P.

Will come in handy maybe for the upcoming site, eh?

Player position script is blocked by Nephthys :(

Ohhhhhhhh. No fair!

Btw, know this is kinda unrelated, but is there a way for map images to be associated with maps, like in UT or quake or whatever?

Could be awesome if the page could be stylised with map thumbs 'n' shizzle.

I believe that server requesting wrong port is a joke server by zXc, if you can believe that.

If it is, it's not even funny.

Due to a bug, the server player monitor is currently offline.

Will try to fix it later on. The serverlister will stay online.

It had the same IP as the FGS server... not sure where you got zXc from

Ah I was had then, perhaps then this is Jima's "server".

Hard to know the real ZXC since their forums has security so tight, it's actually hard to join, plus Dogny on their backs, and the fact they keep themselves to themselves pretty much, it's hardly our fault if they are not more open and transparent and less bent on ripping people's work and editing maps without permission, what makes it worse is that weps are just thrown on the floor and the actor lights are removed and replaced with hideous zone lighting.

The editing without permission is why I can't take them seriously. If they stop that shit, then ok, I'd be interested in talking to them more.

Would be really cool if you could fix the player activity graph.

That's most likely the FGS altfire server.
The guy running that server must be a real noob.

Also.. what do you mean with player position script?

I made a PHP script that connected to a DX server, asked all locations of the online players and displayed them by using PHP GD on an image. I made a screenshot of DXMP_Smuggler (as test) and made dots appear using the locations I got from the server.

I remember that, it was epic.

Hmm.. technically, that's very awesome, Alex... but knowing the raw x, y and z coords doesn't tell you much about a verbally described location... does it? :?

It was accurate, that I can tell, aside from the hax0ring, I can't say much but what I saw was epicz.

That's why it wasn't easy to import all maps at once... I had to process each map manually to see how to process coords etc.

How was this achieved anyway? I found it awesome.

Are there any other tidbits of info one can extract from a running deus ex server?
