New information on DX:HR came out during GDC. Some of you probably read about it; if not Kotaku has some semi-legit shots of what appears to be concept art and renders.

Interesting find, in any case.

I want to see how DX3 pans out in regards to augmentation and what they consider augs, because you gotta remember that in DX3's timeline Paul will only be a child and he is widely considered the "first" successful nano-augmented unit.

Also, this is a decent enough read:

So at the end of the teaser trailer it shows the 360 and PS3 logos; I guess this isn't exclusive to PC as the topic suggests?

Well, people have always claimed that no console versions would be released due to the complexity of the engine. What nobody seems to realise is that there is this little thing called reverse engineering and that many developers, in the past and in the present, have most likely edited game engines to do things nobody thought previous possible.

What are you trying to say? Game devs reverse engineered the game engine to work with the consoles?

Whilst I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying it's not impossible to add features to a game engine, in whatever manner you choose. It's not like it hasn't been done before.

They're working for the people who own the rights to the engine, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to find those who made it. I'm also sure they'd have rights to the use of it's source code, seeing as they're going to need to modify the engine somewhat anyway, to work with the theme of Deus Ex.

Alternatively, they could make an entirely new engine. They may already have done so, for all we know. In fact, for all we know, they could have started work on Deus Ex 3 the moment Ion Storm deprecated (or earlier) and everything they have said and released thus far could be entirely false. Whilst that is rather extreme, it's still possible.

Anything is possible. People thought flying wasn't possible at some point, they were proven wrong.

Uh? It has been said many times that Deus Ex 3 will be based on the Tomb Raider engine, the inner working of Eidos.

Moreover, if you think that the game developers (in general) are not given the source codes of the engine they're utilizing in the game, you're wrong. Game development is not game modding.

If you think that reverse engineering is easy, you're wrong. In most cases it would be illegal and pointless for them.

If you think that the programmers own rights for the source codes they write, you're most likely wrong. Usually when entering a job they sign employment contracts where it is stated that they do not own products of their work, and they can't do anything with it + there's such thing as commercial classified information. (I say "most likely" since programmers in smaller companies may be the owners of the company).

If you think that porting a game can be done by the means of reverse engineering... well... you should try it some day

I said the opposite actually, no offense but if had read carefully you would have noticed that. I am fully aware who has the rights to the engine, hence I am also aware the DX3 team could have access to said rights. I freaken said that.

Again, no offense, but learn to read. Am I just not making myself clear, cause I said that too. Allow me to repeat myself.

I covered my ass by saying "in whatever manner you choose", I also never said they own the rights, I said it wouldn't be hard for them [the Deus Ex 3 team] to get said rights under the assumption that Eidos would own them, since they should be the ones who own the engine's source code in the first place. They may and they may not, I think it's safe to assume they do.

I'm not arguing with you, there is no argument. It is possible for them to have modified the engine in such a way to make the impossible possible, because we do not know how much work has been put into the game, nor when development actually started.

I've already lost my patience however, because reading comprehension is obviously hard (note the sarcasm).

Well that's a 180, I read an interview around last year for that. If the new trailer has 360 and pS3 logos ah well.

Ah, sorry I missed this:

But still, reverse engineering is totally irrelevant to the matter.
