DXHR - Which version to buy?

Postby Lurker » Sun Aug 14, 11 1:08 am

As far as I'm concerned there are 3 versions of Deus Ex Human Revolution to be released on August 25th and 26th.

I have no fXXkin' clue which one I should buy. Please vote in the poll, recommend one and help me decide...

Limited is called "Augmented Edition"

Hands down, Augmented edition is the best deal, if you're a fan of the series.

Ahem. Why have you edited and changed my poll. WTF? :x

This new poll may work for US gamers, but not for European gamers! It's completely useless and even more confusing.

Just for you info, I'm going to buy DXHR from an online-shop in Germany. They sell 3 different versions here, which are called as follows:

1. Deus Ex Human Revolution
2. Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition
3. Deus Ex Human Revolution Collectors Edition

The choices of my original poll. I need to know which one of those three I should buy. The other information in YOUR poll now is useless to me, as I said.

So people, ignore the new poll above and please just post number 1, 2 or 3...

Well, the new poll 'works' for those in the UK. I don't see why you're being so petty about it, where it says 'Augmented' imagine it says 'Limited'.

Regardless, every regular on this site knows what we mean by Augmented and Collector's Edition as well as the content included.

Surprising that everyone has chosen the Augmented Edition.

Oooh...kay. *confused*

But why would it be called "Limited Edition" in Germany and "Augmented Edition" in America? That doesn't make sense to me.

I think I need more confirmation on that... So when I buy "Limited Edition" from german shop it's like buying "Augmented Edition" from american shop? Is that correct? Can I be 100% sure?

Well, according to this famous german online retail shop OkaySoft.de there are UK versions of DXHR called as follows:

Deus Ex Human Revolution
Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition

No mention of "Augmented Edition" what so ever.

I don't see why you're being so petty about it, where it says 'Augmented' imagine it says 'Limited'.

You mean the other way round. When I see "Limited" I should imagine "Augmented".

Surprising that everyone has chosen the Augmented Edition.

If "Augmented Edition" is "Limited Edition" then it's probably a good choice, isn't it.

Never mind, people.

I have already decided now. I think I'm going to buy the UK release (UNCUT) called "Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition" at OkaySoft.de.

I don't know if this is the "Augmented Edition" or not, but the description at OkaySoft sounds good enough to me:

Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition

English/UK version, BBFC 18

The Deus Ex: Human Revolution Limited Edition includes:

- An entirely new extra mission
- Two weapons
- Auto-unlocking device

Alright, I just figured it all out after browsing the non-PC sections at OkaySoft.de a minute ago.

There exists a DXHR release called "Augmented Edition", BUT it's for PS3 and Xbox360 only, not for PC! And I'm only interested in PC versions.

Here are all the correct names of the releases, language versions and platforms I figured out:

Deus Ex Human Revolution (PC, PS3, Xbox360 in Germany/UK)
Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition (PC only in Germany/UK)
Deus Ex Human Revolution Collectors Edition (PS3 and Xbox360 only in Germany/UK)
Deus Ex Human Revolution Augmented Edition (PS3 and Xbox360 only in Germany/UK)

So yeah, it's clear. Limited Edition is the one to go for us PC users! 8)

And for all you PS3 and Xbox360 users out there, the Augmented Edition is the one, as you have already voted for in James' poll above. :)

Funny and confusing at the same time, isn't it, that the DXHR publishers call the PC releases differently. I should keep that in mind for the future that special PC editions of games may not have the same names as PS3 or Xbox360 editions.

Looks like it's on PC to me.

Special edition/limited edition/augmented edition is the same thing.

Personally I'd say if you have three choices (Standard, Augmented and Collectors) I'd highly recommended getting the Augmented edition. Why? It offers alot more content than the standard edition.

All the collectors edition offers on top of the Augmented edition is a shiny box and a figure for almost double the price.

I want the figure and it's cheaper to get it with the collectors edition than seperate as I found out. Import tax :(

Don't want to make a new thread, just booked holidays for DXHR lol.

While playing through Deus Ex the first time I was up until 5am then going to school, can't have that on work nights.

Decide whether you are on UNATCO's side or on our side, the NSF (National Secessionist Forces). It's your choice in this global war, Agent Robinson.
