Possible Date for the events in DX?

The game is set after 2030, as Sam Carter remarks something to the tune of "The internet's been run through Area51 since the 30's." As I recall, there was no internet in 1930, in any form. Thus, it must be 2030, or some time after that.
JC is 23 years old.
His initial creation date in A51 was 17th March 2054.

23+54=77

So, I conclude that DX was set in the late 2070's.

Hmm, makes sence. Makes alot of sence, but on the back of my DX cover it said it was set in 2052 but if JC was created then, then it would make no sence what-so-ever.

There was some kind of LAN created in States between military objects in the end of 40-s - beginning of 50-s. That wasn't the Internet, of course...
Area51 didn't exist in 30s (well, maybe as Groomlake polygon it did).
JC was created in 2029, not 2054 (see Bible).

Okay, if JC was born in 2029 then THAT makes much more sense. Because I thought the game was situated in 2052.

The game is set in 2052 (our player is 23 years old).

But... it says his assigned birth date is 2029, but his inception date (When he was first started work on) was 2054. So, that would mean that he was 25 according to his assigned birthday, not 23. A good question would be -- does Savage's private Echelon system read from JC's inception date, or his assigned birth date. As it seems to know he's not made by natural means, I wager on the inception date. Up to you though :)

Yeah but JC was "created" then, not born. I mean the people in the cloning things are already... Mature.

What teh fuck? If the game was set in 2052 and JCs Incept Date is 2054 that would have to mean the game ISN'T set in 2052... That would make JC come from 2 years in the future lol.

How can you play JC TWO YEARS BEFORE he's been "released" into the world?!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex#Setting

Deus Ex - Wikipedia wrote:Deus Ex takes place in a dystopian future in a world that draws heavily upon the cyberpunk genre. This dark setting is further enhanced by the fact that the entire game takes place at night, a backdrop which adds to its atmosphere of conspiracies and stealth. The game contradicts itself in several instances regarding the exact year in which the events of the story take place, but information in the sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War reconciles this inconsistency vis-à-vis retroactive continuity, placing the events of Deus Ex in the year 2052.

from what i recall JC was very young O_o, artificially created. perhaps someone in this thread already mentioned it. I know the PDX people had some serious threads on that.

Yeah, same here! I thought JC was born too then artificially modified with his Augmentated abilities - not created.

The way he talks of school and college with his brother at the start, then him being taken into the program at the dinner thing with his mum and dad..

I am so confused.

The school/college thing confuses me. His parents don't. The "parents" he speaks of aren't his biological parents, per se. They were employee's of Bob Page (did they work at Area 51? I assume so).

So that makes sence, but the other stuff doesn't.

My Russian friends at PlanetDeusEx.ru guessed that:
- it's either a developers mistake (that happened before)
- or maybe its a JCs clone that was born in 2029 too

I WIN !!!

Deus Ex is set in 2057.

How do I know?

Look at the date at the bottom of some of the textures.... it says 2057...

The texture I'm talking about is normally used as a transparent "screen" near computers and control equipment. It is a green satellite image. There are two. One clearly says 2057 at the bottom, like a date on a digital camera.
I think its a Vandenberg or A51 texture, I've used it in DXMS_Gravitation. The Date therefore in DXMS_Gravitation is also 2057...

Now of course don't forget Chinese and Indian dating systems differ... lol

And of course we all know the world really ends in 2012, the date predicted by the Mayans, who so far correctly predicted the existence of 9 planets, 2000 years before telescopes were invented. Shit your pants now...

Like Wikipedias article on DX said - The game is VERY contradictive about the date.

I'd rather listen to Kaplan and his "sons-of-bitches" approach.

yeah

Paul uses non-leathal methods of disposing of the NSF because he's working for them throughout the game. As is Harley Filben.
