When I got myself a copy of DX there wasn't even multiplayer, so I obviously played singleplayer before going to multiplayer.

Same as Clix, I got DeusEx before multiplayer was made. Then a couple of years later I came back to DX and discovered there was MP.

Well, I actually never finished the game before I tried MP.

I got somewhere in Area51 and just got stuck.

Then I entered Jim's server. :D

Area 51 was a disappointment, it lacked the decision-making and free-roaming of Paris, New York and Hong Kong... a series of levels to finish and move on to the next. Also it appeared that the only entry into Area51's deeper levels was a ladder through level 2, despite there being monorails and entrances to jump around and into...

I played single player 5 years and proud. Then went onto GODZ, FGS, Jim's...

It wasn't just playing against humans, it was seeing new maps, new interpretations, new weapons and seeing a whole new genre essentially, that made me catch the DXMP bug...

I wonder if some of the auggers never played DXSP, because sometimes, some of them look down on anyone who plays non-aug, but if you really understand the DX story and played the SP game five years, you will know that the only real challenge in DX is to show 100% humanity at all times during the "long night"... to me, using augs seemed like a sin, just becoming more like Walton Simons...

but if you want to save lifes, augs are necessary to get involved with so much tranq gas etc... then it is possible to save just about everyone's life that night, friend or foe...

PAUL DENTON - 2057 - "Remember we're cops JC..." Which is why the US police do better than the UK police these days, the UK police are like UNATCO, they ONLY carry Glock's or MP7's (Military weapons), US police at least carry stun guns and nets and tazers etc... Definition of a police force. Definition of a militia... UK Police are now technically a militia, not a police force.

I started in SP. Didn't stay there long, but what I did play was fun (think I got to Paris before I found the multiplayer button)

I remember downloading a buggy multiplayer version once, played against my brother on lan and somehow head wouldnt go further than red, making you invulnerable for headshots kinda... Was this a known bug for one of the first MP patches, or did something just really get fucked up bad on our side?

I played the demo a some dudes house first, then about a year later I saw it in the stores and bought it. First played SP for about a year and then I finally got internets. :P went straight online to get my ass whooped 'till this day.

I finished it, then I started modding it with TNAG. Then I started modding that with tons of new things. Now, I wish I could alter the TNAG replacer without having to go through every map and replace the old entity with the new one.

I perfer mp, because it's just kinda boring, and dull in single player, you have to be so patient if you wanna make a kill :S
