It should keep the game alive for awhile, kinda...might introduce new people.
But... I aint paying for it, because most thirdparty games aren't moddable for steam.
I am dead.

People report on forums that multiplayer doesn't work. Well, also what worries me is that they probably implemented the integrity feature or whatever it is called. I'm not sure but possibly these newcomers won't be able to install DXMTL and so on.

Hmn, well if many people have the problem on the forums, maybe they'll fix it.

Also, age rating 17+ ? wth?

good topic Baleout... at least they rate it 9/10 as a game 8)
"17+" is a new one on me, because of the gore levels I suppose...

To a long time fan of Steam, nothing's over the top.

So, do I have to buy the game "again"?

Provided that FGS/Gamespy keeps their master server up, this could actually be good news.

People will eventually get P.O. at the Steam version. Then we're all like "We've got Steam-free version, and have played it for years. :D"

*BOOM* Tons of anti-Steam players.

I think there are still some issues with the steam version of Deus ex, judging by the forums.

i dont think this is off topic but, when does gamespy's contract run out for hosting the masterserver? because we may be force to play through steam at this rate. :S i think since i have hl 1 i get a free acount

Well, if the GameSpy masterserver goes down for good, I'll go to the Steam forum and tell them how to change masterserver. :)

oh yes of course! we still have the mtl.eu server. it is just not as well used as gamespy, but if it is left as the only server, it soon will be. see im not a fan of steam :D

lol people will buy the steam version, merely because steam is a brand, hopefully they will still be able to dl content from us, at least letting them be players. however, the gamespy and mtl.eu lot will still be able to host their games i believe and make their maps and mods.

to be pedantic and precise, $8.95.

I'm the same as Kaiden, it's been £4.99 for the last 4? years in London, although I only see it going for £1 or £2 in bargain buckets and car boot sales now... It seems Dixons/Curries stopped ordering it from Sold Out software?

Steam also included a fix for dual cores, so you don't have to set the affinity yourself.
