[MUTATOR] MMImTyping

Postby Allan » Mon Oct 09, 06 4:21 am

~MMImTyping~

~Description~

This mutator shows up a speech bubble above the heads of any players typing, so people know when they're about to type-kill someone :)

~Version~

This is version 1.1 of this mutator.

~Features~

Shows when a player is typing a message, by displaying a speech bubble above their head.
Penalises players for killing players that have been typing over a certain time frame.
Hides bubbles of those in cloak.
Prvents type kills on people in cloak counting against a player.
Allows players to be in God while typing(Not recommended, off by default)

~Known Bugs~

The only bugs I've found so far are:

- The bubble doesn't attach to the player properly. By this, I mean you can just walk away from the speech bubble, if you hold down a directional button before typing.
- Crouching, then starting typing, then uncrouching results in you getting the bubble going straight into the middle of your head.
- Using Typers in God prevents people from using God without having it bound to a key.

~Special Thanks~

[A]lex for trying to help with the code (Sorry I couldn't get back to you :( )
Gunz Online, for giving me the idea.
Everyone I Type-Killed to test the kicking on! xD

~Other~

This mod has been protected with [A]Nobody's protection tool.
Anyone desiring a non-protected version, drop me a PM/Email, and i'll get back to you. :)
Full installation instructions are avaliable in the read-me file that comes with this mod's .zip (Even though it is mainly automatic)

Wow great job :)

But I'd improve the texture a bit.
Also we don't use 'v', like MMName100, not MMNamev100.

A very nice addition to MP. Indeed.
I'll give you some performance hints about it later. :)

I'd never choose AOL. AOL needed to pay me for using their ISP offers.

My parents are internet n00bs. That's probably the only reason we ever had AOL.

Find the line : [DeusEx.DeusExGameEngine], then add the lines:

ServerActors=MMImTyping110.MMIAmTyping
ServerPackages=MMImTyping110

After that, you run your server, and provided you have DXMTL, or some equivilent (AlrightyGame,CRDBugFix,
miniMTL,etc...), you should be able to select a mutator. Turn MMImTyping110 on. After this, run your
server as normal.

These are two different installation methods. Servers who did both may have the mutator spawned twice.

..which might end in a crash, due to infinite script recursion :P

Type-killing is whining. End.

Nice mod, I've seen it around a lot. It's good when it doesn't fly up in your face.

I did see mine spawned twice... so to make it just once... I would remove both lines or just the ServerActor= part? isn't Serverpackage just make it a download by the client? or should i delete both if i enable it in the DXMTL
???

If you enabled the mutator in the mutators window AND edited .ini, then just get rid of both lines in deusex.ini
