I know how to get to it and stuff, but i want to know the price for a replacement for Intel Pentium 4 2.8ghz single core. It doesn't have to be a Pentium 4, it can be something else that fits, it can as powerful, more, but not less.

Thing is, it perhaps cannot be more powerful.

What kind of motherboard do you have? What type of socket?

Nevermind I found some chart on Intel's site.

There are other factors such as the maximum power consumption for the CPU that the motherboard can handle. Given the age of the processor you currently have you're most likely better off buying new RAM, new motherboard & CPU. You can actually fetch 'combo' packs (AMD does them, not sure about Intel) which include everything you need for a reasonable price.
