Bought Resi 4 HD Edition yesterday evening!

Early reviews indicate its a poor HD upgrade, havn't played it myself, will have a bash on it tonight, it was just released yesterday , its 12 quid.

IIRC, there are pressed disc copies, but they're:

- Exclusive to Japan.
- Exclusive to XBOX 360 [?].
- Printed purely to allow the game to be sold via Microsoft's Games on Demand service - so players get 1000GS for gaining all achievements instead of 200GS via an Arcade Games release.

Code Veronica HD released, is it as bad as RE4 HD? (PC version lol)

Bought it cos they had a deal where if you bought Resi 4 HD you get 8 quid off Code Veronica, so i'm taking a chance on it.

"EDIT" Code Veronica is borderline unplayable unless you fire up your TV screens brightness to max, so fucking dark, they bolloxed it up big time

And on Resi 4, i've played a bit of it, graphics are pretty much the same as they were, luckily they were already great or else it would be a bigger issue for me.

After extensive plays of both games, here's my thoughts.

Code Veronica X , they introduced real time shadowing into the game, which beggars belief because now it's nigh on impossible to see anything unless you have the lighter equipped at all time's, the graphics have improved slightly but cutscenes are pretty bad with the pixels everywhere, speech is sometimes outta sync, controls are still trade mark Resident Evil (tank) , not the worst thing of course, like i said, its trademark Resident Evil, but i can see newcomers to this getting frustrated if its their first experience of such gameplay.

Overall, i was pretty dissapoitned with how this turned out, and i got this for £8, honestly wouldn't pay the £16 it's going for, if you want to play it, get the original PS2 or DC version, better value for money, all your getting extra here is a very small graphic upgrade which isn't worth what their asking, trust me.


Resident Evil 4, this game got the better treatment, the graphics were already of top quality so naturally there wasn't much room for improvement, cutscenes do look nicer than the original, but in game graphics are pretty much the same ,nothing worth paying the money for if you have easy access to the original games. Apart from that, the entire core game remains untouched.


Overall, a dissapointing collection, more from the lack of effort on Capcom's part, if they arn't going to put the effort into their future collections, they shouldn't bother at all. If you've never played the games before i'd still recommend you find original versions if possible, at the least for Code Veronica, Resi 4 HD is passable.

Of course, that's just terrible. The 360/PS3 versions of RE4 is just the PC port with worse textures (upscaled) of RE4 that is a port of the PS2 port of the Gamecube version.

Even Serious Sam HD is a pretty good remake (replaced all of the graphics)

Regarding actual remakes of games over HD upscales, RE1 was my favourite, outstanding job.

Serious Sam is a true HD remake yes. Early 360 games had a lot of PS2/Xbox games which fit under the catagory.

Other good examples of remakes include Monkey Island re-releases.

Finished Resi 4 HD yesterday, was a nice re run as i hadn't played it in an age, gonna do it again on Pro mode, finish Ada's side mission and possibly attempt Merc's 5* with all characters, but not in a rush for that, done it on the Wii version already.

Mite start Code Veronica again next.

Finished both ADA missions yesterday, decided to do a run on PRO then i'll switch to Veronica.

Might even consider a Knife only run cos it actually is one of the game's best weapons.

Resi 4 was a lot lot harder than i remember on the other versions.
