Classic theme is very professional. Not only allows alot more free pixels for working space, easily customisable and is the most aesthetically pleasing official Windows XP, Vista and 7 theme for those who are colour composition snobs. However I do wish I had some features of Aero.

On top of that it boasts an almost un-noticable boost to performance.

Modern Windows themes remind me of vomit and poor design taste.

Is it worth upgrading if you don't have a touchscreen yet?

Has anyone looked into Metro for Windows 8? It's like everything bad about the iPhone on a desktop computer. One application at a time, forced Microsoft store API, messes with desktop.

No thank you Microsoft, I've been away for the last week and was wondering about all this controversy.

Win7 is pretty much the end of the line for me.

I'll stay on this until Linux stabilises.

I doubt that will happen, Microsoft will see the mistake and back off from it. Like Zune and the Bing.

The thing about MS though, is that they never admit failure and scrap it entirely. Even with IE, Live, Zune, Bing etc they are going to push the negative features of each of their products onto you.

Anyone at work who gets assigned Windows 7, we give them this theme from the off , looks more professional than the basic theme

In my workplace, I ensure that all unlocked computers are set upside-down, with high contrast and sticky keys on.

Jesus god almighty what were Microsoft thinking with this

The interface is completely counterproductive

It's almost like it was intended for <s>Apple users</s> 14 year old girls that do nothing but browse facebook and update twitter

They seriously think tablets and smartphones are going to replace the PC?

For most public Consumers; I don't doubt that tablets will be the future of computing. I can't see this happening for corporate use though...

So I installed Windows 8 on a coworker's PC yesterday and it was awful.

Don't get me wrong: I don't mind "new", but their changes are plain unintuitive. I had to Google simple things, like how to turn off the computer, where to find the old control panel, how to use search. Eventually I had to write these things down for the coworker.

Lol. Settings charm, then "off." Nice and convenient............................................................................

The interface looks nice, and is fast. A shame it's followed by three extra counterproductive steps.

Me and my colleague had some difficulties shutting down a Windows 8 PC. The button was pretty well hidden.
