Downloaded Tribes today, and purchased the VIP pack. Can't wait to play, but I'm validating my files right now as it seems I have corrupt texture files among other buggy shit.

I've played a few tribes games in the past, and have loved them. Hopefully this won't disappointing.

I'll teach you how to play:

1. Level pathfinder first, best class in the game and fast. With the new light assault rifle (which is better than the ordinary assault rifle for solider by the way) and shotgun buff it is one of the strongest classes in the game.

2. Follow this guide:

3. Try to get upgrades in this order:
Pathfinder armour upgrade 1
Light spinfuser upgrade 1
Pathfinder armour upgrade 2, 3
Energy recharge upgrade 1
Light spinfuser upgrade 2
Energy recharge upgrade 2, 3
Pathfinder armour upgrade 4, 5

Then level where you want to upgrade. I suggest also getting the Reach perk ASAP. If you have assault rifle already don't waste it on Shotgun upgrades, it is up for you to unlock the nitron charge, but the impact is brilliant so stick to upgrading one.

4. Once you have your main primary, secondary, armour, energy pack, reach perk, grenade of choice and whatever I have missed maxed out. Congratulations you have a viable multi-purpose class.

5. Now spend whatever you want.

If you buy gold from the VIP pack WASTE IT ON IMPORTANT AND HARD TO UNLOCK ITEMS such as the light assault rifle, they take you 200 games to win. Some items including other weapons are relatively cheap and it'll be a waste.

Try to stick to Blood Eagle, bad players (Jorkell, Bale) go to Diamond Sword but they're obviously idiots because red = faster and they must forget our commander is Vegeta.

Tech is now OP at EVERYTHING. The strongest explosive weapon in the game for and against medium/light classes, the strongest automatic next to the chaingun (His pistol, for those who don't realize, is a fully automatic. Like a Glock), and up to two turrets placeable anywhere on the map.

Giving the technician a thumper (let alone a more powerful version of it than the soldier's variation) has pushed them beyond a support role, providing more firepower than what I imagine was originally intended. I feel that the solution would either be to reduce the effectiveness of the weapon (for this class) or to completely replace the weapon, with a more support-oriented alternative (focusing on disruption, rather than damage).

Removing or nerfing turrets a lot to the point where they can't function without the engineer in close proximity or disabling repairs for anything but base turrets and generator is fine too.
