Rockstar's pseudo lifestyle marketing is getting on my tits. They're boasting these features but they can't just let the game speak for itself? I don't like it when a game company tries to give the illusion of depth when it's shallow and boring (read: GTA IV). I'd rather they have a narrationless 20 minutes of gameplay that demonstrates a few side activities in detail and a mission; rather than a montage that promises more than it's going to deliver.

We don't know what it's going to deliver yet, but from what we've seen and know so far, it's a massive step up from IV, and it's packed full of features at a regular price point.

The reason why they tell everyone the features, are because it's a good selling point, creates buzz, etc. Not to mention that the majority of people are dumb, and won't know the features they are given if they are not told the specifics. Also, how do we even know they explained EVERY feature? We don't. For all we know, those could only be SOME features. Bare in mind that R* have been working on GTAV partway through IV until this present time.

I know everyone in this forum are very skeptical when it comes to games, which is a good trait to have in a time where video games are mostly horrid, but c'mon man, give them at least a LITTLE bit of credit.

They did the exact same thing with Red Dead Redemption, and it was a void of boredom with very little to actually DO aside from missions. But I got hyped for that game, and they let me down. I'm not skeptical, I want to enjoy this game, but these add-one aren't going to reinvent the wheel; they better not otherwise we'll lose the fun of GTA. San Andreas was fun because it was largely unstructured, you didn't have to do regimented activities, they were brief distractions to the core fun gameplay...and the trailer didn't show enough CORE gameplay for me to not be a little bit wary.

Yeah but two different studios made each game: different staff, management, and budgets. San Diego made RDD, and North created GTAV.

While their marketing scheme is the same, the development team at R* North is a lot better. North has done a great job at incorporating all the features in San Andreas + Further development & extras (R* North is building on their already successful San Andreas formula).

I think enough dev teams have failed already making a boring sandbox game, that they've learned to step it up. R* North is the same team that created San Andreas in the first place. They really can't go wrong; I think it will be a successor to San Andreas.

I'm not normally one to get overly excited about big game releases, usually end up geting them a while after release, this is one of the rare times i'm desperate to get a game, come on GTA!!

I've got it.

It's a noticeable improvement on IV. The missions are very different from each other and keep my interest more, the side activities are many and mostly okay. There's more humour, gunplay is better (but still kind of 'loose') and cars handle way better. Fun game, not groundbreaking by any means.

It's like Rockstar hacked into my computer's music folder when they made the soundtrack

There will never be a better OST except maybe Nier 2

To be honest, it's a lot of music and not part of the OST.

The GTA5 OST itself however is sublime as fuck, Tangerine Dream own.

Speaking of GOTY, I think it'd be fair if console/PC exclusive titles were exempt from GOTY titles (and if people actually waited until a years end to make a judgement, but alas). Console GOTY perhaps, but I can't even play the fucking thing (at least not yet, I have hope, though).

Of course, I don't particularly like GOTY's anyway, largely because nobody plays every single game and therefore a players decision is largely biased on whatever they're fanboying over at the time.

ON-TOPIC: SOMEONE SHOULD BUY ME A CONSOLE FOR THIS GAME. JUST SAYING.
