I would love more Steam games to be Linux-compatible, I really would.

Not sure why though, since I don't use Linux often, though I've found network connections tend to run much smoother and sometimes even faster on Linux distros.

I wonder if it'll finally introduce OpenGL support or if it'll emulate DirectX again.

Still a long way off from what I need

But it's a start

Someone go petition Adobe

And no don't tell me to emulate it

Valve tuned their engine for better integration with Linux, and now L4D in Linux performs better (315 fps) than in Windows (271 fps). Great news.

thanks to Alex for the find

It's excellent news that Intel, AMD and Nvidia are working with them.

Yes Gaming can be great with Linux!!

Get yourself a "bare-bones" GUI like Fluxbox, where you're launching pretty much everything from shell, then run the game!

That does seem very probable. Most gamers only... well, game on their PC with the exception of everyday tasks like banking, and social networking. I think it could catch on, and that a lot of people would use SteamOS.

I would probably use it in the future if tuned properly. Desktop for gaming and what have you, while my laptop can be for professional use.
