At least the filters are optional, just phone them up and ask for removal. However, I wonder what they mean by 'optional.' I you choose to have everything unblocked... but WILL everything actually be unblocked.
Also, removing the filters may have the GCHQ placing a larger eye on you than the others. In fact, I guarantee that is why they did it. Since you know by default that most people have naughty things blocked... there is no need to worry about them. Place a larger focus on the other half of the pie chart that asked for the content unblocked.

I think the policy only applies (at current) to *new* service contracts. Is your ISP BT? I don't think any other company has the policy yet besides them.

Yeah man, Northern Ireland and Scotland should be fine for a very long time (if they even bother implementing the filter at all). Southern Ireland is excluded altogether from these filtering shenanigans.
