a. Could you please fix encoding for our MySQL databases. Currently it's latin1_swedish_ci (Swedish? wth!), while we need UTF-8. Wrong encoding f*cks up RSS on PlanetDeusEx'ru.
b. The server have been lagging today from time to time.

To be honest dude, it's lagging like a bitch. I thought it was just me so I wasn't going to say anything, but turns out other people have the same problem...

Yes, I'm aware of the lag today. The datacenter where our server is located in had a problem with their upstream bandwidth provider(currently an exchange point -- mutiple provider problem), I've been in CONSTANT communication with them. The exchange problem got fixed (it was a Level(3) fibercut) and just as of 8PM EST it seems the OTHER problem lied with a server on their networking making jitter, they have pulled this server and all should be good now, I apologize. I am looking into the MySQL as we speak.

Thanks.

Well, it still lags badly today :o
And yeah, all the databases should be converted. However, if it is a hard process you may do only planetdx, pdxru, pdx, rpgdb.

Edit: lag is gone now.

Sorry for the downtime this afternoon. Smookie has been trying his new programme, and overloaded the server of this forum.

If he does any kind of DDoS attack he will be blocked at the router level (The network the server is on has Netscreen DoS Protection, will probably soon upgrade to Netscreen Deep Packet Inspection also, when I feel we need it. :)

Not really. Yea, there are some vulnerabilities in our current version of phpBB, but they aren't that serious. And i think he knows we have automated scheduled backup and it would take 10 mins to restore it if something nasty happened. On the next week I'll improve forum security to max again.

If he is doing a Dos I really wish he would stop. I have found out what is causing it to be down, sluggish, etc. The apache maxclients was set to 150, I've increased this and all seems to be good now. Please if you guys encounter any sluggish loading, php errors, anything that you think should be fixed drop an email to support@collateralfx.net So I can look into this ASAP.

Thanks.

Ok guys, he has just added me on MSN and spoke to me. He's unbanned. This should be the end of all the arguments. Alex, treat him like any other forum member. He will treat you the same. Do not ban without talking to me. :)

If your IP is 84.25.76.219 let me know, cause I banned this IP at the firewall level and I have unbanned it but I need to know if that was you or not. So I don't ban you again :)
