First season was the slowest just cuz it was basically the opening act acquanting you with the cast and setting and background. Once he's bald the shit is real.

Also, Brian Cranston should star in a May Payne Movie.

I watched first episode on TV when it aired. I think I wrote somewhere about shows getting better, Breaking Bad is one of the examples.

I have to say it took some time to get used to Dean Norris starring there - hes always been a second rate joke actor for me, but he somewhat redeemed himself with his acting in BB. I get the same vomit reaction when I see David Boreanaz pop up in a random crime series.

I actually really liked the first season because it made me like Walter. It was the Walter show, though, and the later seasons broadened the scope of characters hugely.

The latest episode just shows how far everyone has come, the final scene with Hank and Walt was acting perfection from both.

Breaking Bad is the deepest show i have ever seen, so based on morals and what is right and wrong, it really makes you think about things, how people change, everything

Amazing

I'm not speaking as if I think the show sucks. I'm legitimately gobsmacked as to why this show, out of all others, makes people so interested.

I don't want TV much, so I'm genuinely curious.

A combination of many things. Cast, acting, setting, theme, dialogue, real-world relation. If you're truly that curious watch the first season (I guarantee you'll be hooked :P). It's a great show because it is well-rounded on most aspects, where other shows only focus on few.

P.S. I too, rarely watch TV.

Breaking Bad is the tale of a 50 year old former scientist who sold off shares of his company for a month's rent and is stuck in 2 jobs as a Highschool Chemistry Teacher and Gas Station Clerk, struggling to care for his unemployed pregnant wife and teenage son with cerebral palsy. He is soon diagnosed with lung cancer and is unwilling to let any of his family to know, but also hating the feeling of leaving them bankrupt upon his death. His brother-in-law is a DEA agent agrees to take the protagonist on site of a drug bust (requesting after seeing drug money on the TV news RE: the agent's recent case) where he meets his former student, who is a small time methcook, who our protagonist has the wildest idea to use him to create his own batch of meth and use this seemingly streetwise acquaintance to distribute and sell it.

And the rest is up to you to find out.

Those who have seen the series but not some of the behind the scenes interviews, check out the Salamanca brothers clip on youtube. Don't want to post spoilers here.

I started watching it back when it aired after I happened to see it on a TV that was running. I don't watch TV at all on my own initiative, except couple times per year. If family or friends have it in the background then thats when I pick up whats happening on the tv world. Breaking Bad definitely drew me to the box for a while. I didn't even like Dexter that much. Only other series I've initially found as impressive was Person of Interest.

Like all the best crime shows, it has the air of moral relativity and even futility.

No spoilers in it, that I could see anyway. Final season is coming up to it's conclusion, so there's quite a lot of hype around it atm. Still enjoying it though.

After hearing Dexter ruined itself with its ending, it was nice to watch a show bow out with grace
