Deviant is hacking me I dont know how , but Norton anti virus is saying theres a breach in my windows files , firewall is down , I didnt even turn it off , can I some how defend against him? any diea what to do? hes fuckign me over

Update your system.

Get a firewall. One of the best is Agnitum Outpost.

And as Dae says, don't use Norton, or the normal Windows Firewall, they both suck. Norton destroyed my computer twice.

Best thing to do is unplug your internet connection, flush your dns, ect, and then plug it back in and renew. Presuming you have a dynamic ip of course.

rofl. Sounds to me, like he's using an exploit in your windows. Update it. If you're using Service Pack1 Update that as well. LOSE NORTON! That thing couldn't trace a virus, even if you plastered the damn thing on your desktop.... If you want some good anti-virus programs, Try: Avast and I hear AVG is pretty good. There's another one that's free, but I can't think of it at the moment.

But, I have Kaspersky AntiVirus 6, (or is that 2006?), and I bought it because I was told it's the best by far...

Well, is it? I don't have a software firewall aside from XP Pro SP2 built-in one, as I don't feel the need for one (my router has 2 firewalls, one including NAT).

I agree, Kapersky is your best choice.

A little bit of Windows firewall ravings from moi.

I used to have XP Pro SP2, and the firewall (aside from incessantly bugging me everytime I turned it off, and making me feel guilty with its gigantic red shield thingy) was simple.

I removed SP2 for various reasons, and now windows firewall hates me.

It's actually not that easy to open ports with SP1 firewall. With SP2, you open them very simply.

Anyhoo - I don't know what the point of this post was now...

My pc currently has a Netgear DG834GV3 Router, which has NAT & firewall, and I find this quite ample for protecting me. It must've been doing a good job because as soon as I turned it off I was infected by a worm virus and 137 port scans by people looking for BO2K trojans!

My advice is this:
1. Full PC scan with the latest versions of Spybot S&D, and Lavasoft Ad-Aware.
2. Full PC scan with the antivirus of your choice (mine is Kaskpersky).
3. Get behind a router.
4. Learn to hack and fuck them over yourself (but I didn't say that, naturally).

Also, as always, I have to hijack and ask a question of my own:

I do not have a 3rd party software firewall. I'm usually free of hackers and viruses without it. I've been told I need one. What could one do for me and why would I need one? Bear in mind I need to conserve as many resources as possible due to my PC spec, or lack of.

And there I go again with these ridiculously long posts. Soz.
