Deus Ex On Linux, Under Wine

Postby [FTF]Freedom » Thu Dec 27, 07 1:49 am

I have managed to get DX running on Slackware 12 linux distro, with Wine 0.9.51... it runs great!

Two teeny weeny little problems:

1. Uber-sensitive mouse when navigating DX menus, but mouse is fine in-game.
2. My linux distro hates my USB wireless adaptor. Could play DXSP all day - but I want MP!

------------------------
IF you see an "OMFG LIEK THIS IZ ON LINUX!!" server around about 11am GMT, then you know to avoid it lol.... if you're curious, so be it, but BE WARNED: the ping will most probably suck.
------------------------
The DX installation on Linux currently has:
MTL 152b1
Nephthys latest version (I forget number)
MTLColorPatch
Latest OpenGL renderer
MAPS: DXMP_TCF_Sniperzone
------------------------

Well that's it. Wasn't really a question... well... anyone else got DX running on Linux? Or am I freakishly amazing/determined/skillfull/lucky as fuck?

Mega lol. C'mon PayPal!! S'posd to have my GamingDeluxe payment cleared today. It had better clear.

Happy new year to you all for Jan 1st, and happy 20th Birthday to me for tomorrow (28th)!

Why use Linux if your not running a server? We were looking at in college, it really isn't better than Windows except for servers...unless you are O-o

It's better than windows at hosting? It won't be better than Windows if I'm running DX under Wine tho, will it? Coz there's no fkn native DX for Linux.

Been playing UT for Linux - that works well, tho! Like - REALLY well. Stupid Loki not finishing DX for Linux.

Anybody had much experience of hosting DX on Linux, and how I'd do it?

Why use Linux if your not running a server?

^ Some people have it on their box's for when they go on trips, Or just prefer linux over windows.

It's better than windows at hosting?

Nope, i can't see how they are different. Unless the linux box is minimal with only that server running

Just my two cents

Depends which one, Debian is good for servers.

Yep. Redhat Enterprise is.

Ubuntu is the jack of all trades, and piss easy to set up, but not really good at much.

I like Slackware. Good for my shed.
