Deus Ex Alpha

Currently, we have 70 articles in the KB - If you would like an article written (DX Related) Then post below. For example, if you want a user guide on "Deus Ex On Linux, Under Wine", etc, then request here. I can also make video tutorials on some, and upload them to YouTube (I.E me showing how to do Show File Types on XP etc).

PErsonally I don't want video tutorials.

A more detailed binds tute would be nice. Graphics renderer options - they need explaining. Currently the .ini tute lists SOME but not any of the more advanced variables.

Meh - that's about it, the KB is fantastic as it is.

Video tutorials would be good, imo. But have document forms for them too for low-bandwidth or dialup users.

I could perhaps add a few more, but a lot of options aren't documented anywhere, and cwdohnal (the creator) has also added some options which should not be changed at all.

Another problem is that I cannot explain every subject fully, as the guide would be way too big that way.

Anyways, I'll try to add some more info once my exams are over.

A more detailed binds tute would be nice.

What would you like in specific? We have 2 bind guides - Introduction to binding that explains how to make and assign a basic say bind, and Most popular binds listing most of the more popular binds.

Graphics renderer options

Well a bit of a problem because you can only examine the Renderer's you have - I can do OpenGL, Direct3D and the Software Rendering Options. Then again I'm not exactly familiar with Graphics Rendering, I simply suggest leaving the default settings unless suggested otherwise.

*Bump* Anyone else have any guides for suggestion? Bored and need something to write. To be fair we've covered most things that would bother most general users, but post any suggestions please.

What about an artical on Alpha? Or clans, and their past?

That will take to long. And articall on why dogny is a prick? Or will that take to long

That sounds pretty good. Doesn't matter if it takes too long, what else is he going to make one on ¯\(¬_¬)/¯

Well there were plenty of Clans before I came around, and I don't know everything about every clan, we could perhaps set up a system that each clan can write a brief paragraph about itself or something.

Nivida Graphics Cards

OK, firstly we need to get the latest drivers for your Graphics cards, which you can get from Here Follow the setup that it tells you. Once you have installed and restarted your computer, go onto 'Desktop' and right click, there should be a line saying 'Nivida Control Panel' e.g



Now, we have launched the Control Panel, find at the top 'Simple View' click on it and change it to 'Advanced view' e.g





Now, once we have done that, go into '3D Settings' and click 'Manage 3D Settings' ( The one on the right)

Then, at the bottem click 'Show advanced Features' and make sure the box is ticked.

Now make all optimizing off, and anything like 8x or 8xS is all off, Force Mipmaps should be on 'None'

'Hardware acceleration' should be on 'Multiple display performence mode'

'Image settings' Best performence, this will up your fps alot.

Negative LOD BIOS should be on, and the rest off

Now, we need to sort the Deus Ex Rendering.

OpenGL Renders

OK, everything should be false or 0, make sure that 'Use16BitTextures' is on true, if you really need fps then put Precache to true.

Direct3D should be the same as that.
