Chopped up sound on Vista

Having problems like these on a few more games. When I play the game, sound gets all chopped up and noisy.

It occurs while playing Deus Ex and Crysis (and probably some more games I haven't tested yet). Strangely, when I start recording with Fraps, the chopped up sound and noise is gone.

Any help? Thanks.

Right, Fill up a bath tub with COLD WATER. THEN DUMP YOUR COMPUTER IN THE WATER GET A HAMMER AND SMASH UP THE MOTHERBOARD AND THE HARDDRIVE. THEN YOU WET THE PLUG YOU PLUG INTO AND PRESS ON AND KEEP YOUR FINGERS NEAR THE PLUG, THEN IF NOTHING HAPPENS, PUT A FULL METAL KNIFE IN THE TOASTER. KK?

You need to change the Bit of the sound in the sound control panel change it to the lowest.

What sound card / if onboard sound what mobo?

I have an Asus Striker II Extreme MoBo with its own funkeh sound card, but older drivers have uber sound problems on vista.
