Hey!

Just wanted to know that if I upgrade my windows, lets just say any windows version to any windows vista version, is it okay?

I've heard about it being buggy and lots of problems, is that right?

I want serious opinions, so just asking ya all.

So, what you guys say?

Thanks in advance!

Why not try Windows 7?

DJ, judging by this and the other topic, I think you overestimate differences between editions of Vista.

You can see the comparison chart here,
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.aspx

The only benefit of Ultimate worth mentioning, is that it can work with two physical processors (not cores), but it's a very rare combination and is used only on expensive professional workstations.

Other than that, there is no difference between Home Premium / Business / Ultimate in terms of gaming availability or performance. Drivers for devices are the same for any edition. Vista flavors vary only by the amount of software included. Most of that software you won't use anyway.

But why is that there is no 'game' tab thingie at Business?

I wanted Chess and stuff too, but there is none at this version.

Well, my basic question was:

Is upgrading safe or not?

Weather I do it from an upgrade pack, or the official CD?

So you want to upgrade JUST because of default games?

No, not really, I've heard about KOTOR running in Ultimate rather than business versions. :o

Okay, okay!

Now the question changes, if I upgrade, rather than formatting, will it be buggy?

shall I upgrade or format and completely install new windows?

If you're going to upgrade to Windows 7 you CAN upgrade from Vista. But it's way easier to just backup your data, saved games, pictures, music, videos etc and then reformat. Faster too, from my experience.
