Sound crackling

Postby Allan » Fri Nov 26, 10 6:03 pm

Something that's been bugging me for ages, yet I thought was isolated only to my computer TBH.

When I load up DX, the sound will intermittently start making a horrid crackling on loud noises (Imagine someone screwing up a crisp packet near your ear, that kinda noise).

The problem persists regardless of which version of DX I use, and what game-mode (DXMTL, standard DX, etc etc) I run DX through. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

I has attached my DX.ini for you to have a look at if required. Kay-thanks. :3

I don't know if you have it every time... but sometimes i ended up rebooting dx about 10 times to get the game without crackling. Don't know any proper fix for it though.

Never had this before ...

Just curious, whats your sound sample rate thingy set to? (44100Hz?) Not sure if that will make a difference though :D.

This happens to me all the time. I don't know the cause, but I usually just put up with it until it straightens itself out. This normally takes about 5 minutes or so.

It may have something to do with the amount of Hz the sound is set to. I can only speculate.

Only happens to me on the newer hardware set up. Old PC builds I had never experienced the problem. I reboot dx just like the people above, indeed it doesnt always immediately fix it.

I use top quality sound too. I have 4 tweeters, 2 mid-pitch, and a sub-woofer hooked up to my PC. Still get crackling.
