Hey, I recently downloaded Deus Ex off the internet, but I cannot edit any of the deusex.ini file. Anyone know how to change it so that it can be edited?
It is also the same for all the other files like user.ini

Thank you in advance for any information. :D

Right click DeusEx.ini

Select "Properties".

Then de-select "Read Only"

Apply changes and/or click "Ok" and you should be fine to edit what it is you wish to edit.

Hope this helps :)

It wasn't selected to begin with! :? :( . Could it be a copyright thing? Or is there anyother possible way around this? This is the first step to coming back to dxmp, next is getting a new connection. But without this obviously I cant install the mtl so it would be pointless getting a connection, as DX will be the only use.

Explain in detail what happens when you try to edit deusex.ini

From that, We'll be able to help you much more :)

Also, what OS are you running on?

When I try to edit it, it brings up the save-as screen. When I try to save it tells me that deusex.ini already exists, and asks if I want to replace it. I click Yes then it comes up Access is Denied.

Windows 7 Starter Netbook. Shit for gaming alike, but was only for my studies. Runs DX smooth though 8)

that problem is with windows 7 protection - you need to set your account as the owner of the file, with full permission.

If you're an administrator, I recommend this: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/2 ... lick-menu/

Hope it helps!

Exactly what mainman said..

Take a visit to your User Account Settings via "Control Panel" and work some magic.
