Seen this done with Quake 3 and talked about regarding UT99.

Possible?

Absolutely. Im currently playing Starcraft Broodwar with the Staragus (sp) third party engine ported to Android OS. Mind that this is a 2d game, the fact that Quake 3 engine works on Android on current mobile hardware means it's only time until Unreal engine gets ported. Huge step up from DooM on iPod iOS generation 3.

Not familiar with mobiles in general, still using a Sony Ericsson K800i... apparently it's now called a "dumbphone"...

Dad's got a cheap-ass Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade outside UK), £100 for an android phone. Runs Quake 3 okaaayISH but it does indeed run.

So if unreal got ported we could potentially be thumbing our ways through Deus Ex/Unreal (Tournament)/Nerf Arena before long??

Know nothing about iOS just that after (attempting) to use an iPhone (3G I think) I didn't like it. And after having a T-Mobile G1 back in '09, I quite liked the simplicity and flexibility of Android.

Hmm..... is it more a case of engine compatibility than game compatibility?? So, for example, kwaak3 runs quake 3 and openarena... does that mean it'll run other ioquake3 titles?? Just drop the pak3 files in??

Looking at buying a Samsung Galaxy S II in feb when I get my uni grant. Fuck contracts, I wants PAYG and Wi-Fi
