Not sure if I can help you with this one as my original graphic card, a Voodoo 3 ran Deus Ex great (Which should be the case anyway, 3dfx products were the stuff to go for with Unreal based games before the turn of the century). Anyway, ... ATI graphic boards tend to be a lot brighter by hardwaredefault (I found that out on a 9200 as well as the latest 9800).

I know. But I havent problems with any else game. Only Unreal Engine's.
Just photoshop that screen.
You thought I will photoshop all my screens???
Look at this one:
Brightness 0.25:
Brightness 0.85:
Brightness 1.00:
It's look like brightness have no effects on screenshots.
Not sure if this was your case but keep in mind that you have to exit the map that you're on before you can change the brightness level. So go back to the main menu (..die in SP case) and play around with the setting and open a map to find out (Smuggler usually is a good place to check dark corner's visibility, it won't hurt to have it up and around 6 - 8 for 3dfx, not sure about Nvidia and other brand. Course ATI pretty much is good with even a 4 or 5 I bet.
Maybe once you figure out your desire brightness, then the screenshot will be snap at that level too. Otherwise you might have to consider a stand-alone screenshot program.
