If not, and no-one has changed it manually, then look in your Help Document you should have with it, you will be told the default code.

If someone has changed it and forgotten it, you should be able to reset your router to factory default.

Either push a pin into a small hole in the back of the router for like 10-20 seconds, or do it from your Router Menu (192.168..etc) if possible!

it worked thanks :P i offer u cake.

You could just see your own server in the internet list, if your router supported NAT loopback, which most routers do not support.

Why dont you just upgrade the FirmWare of the router? When I upgraded it I could see in internet list without opening port 7730.

erm...I've been following your directions and such, and for some reason I still can't see the server. I'm not really great with a computer, so can you help me out? Every time i start up the server the console thing says a variation of "Nephthys: 2007/12/01 19:45:12: Uplink query rejected from non-master server 207.38.8.27:1199" and such. What do i need to do?

I've also tried uninstalling nephthys, but then i can't go on DX, and it tells me to reinstall Nephthys.

Please attach your server's current DeusEx.log and DeusEx.ini (without passwords, etc.).

Nephthys is NOT a mutator. Remove it from the list!!!

You have a port binding problem. Maybe you have to allow your Deus Ex server to listen on ports in your firewall. Maybe you configured your ports wrong. How exactly do you start your server? Are there any command line options? Please describe the exact steps.

When i start my server, i start up DX, go to internet game, host, i choose my mutators, change the game settings (like augs, etc), make it Dedicated, then i start it. I'm pretty sure i did my port thing correctly, since I followed the portforward.com steps.

1. You must not run 2 firewalls at once. That never works, no matter which 2 products you combine. It's just a principle responsibility issue which can't be solved. Running 2 or more personal software firewalls at once gives you less security than running any product alone. Decide which suits best to you and use only that. Disable or uninstall all other firewalls.

2. I'm not sure about Norton, but some firewalls can prevent programs (like game servers) from binding ports to listen on them. Check all firewall rules in Norton if you have such a rule for your DX server (maybe it's an implicit rule which applies if no other rule fits). Only for a very short testing session I would suggest that you disable the firewall. Don't connect to the internet without any firewall all the time.

3. While your server is running, open a dos box (command prompt, e.g. by hitting WINDOWS+R and then enter "cmd.exe") and enter the command
Code: Select all
netstat -anop udp
Send me the entire result in a PM.

Dont you create a new protocol? On my router is diffrent, as I have to make a service then firewall rules, I geuss you just make a new port, SRC and DST Im geussing are TCP/UDP, so just forward them both.

Hi all! Please look at the start-post, I have changed it and it should probably work for all routers now!

Also, just to add on a bit of advice.

If you are trying to host a server, make sure that the lines in your ini for server packages and such correspond to the files in your system folder. So don't have motd listed in server packages if it has since been removed.

I'm pretty sure it's also the other way around. So if you decied to remove the motd mod from sytem folder, make sure anything relating to it in your ini is also removed. I'm not sure if this is because of Nephthys or just applies in general, but my server refused to show on the list until looked up my deusex log and saw a warning for motd.

Fuck sake to whatever numpty was yakking about 7730.... DX doesn't fkn use 7730!!

The ports are as follows:

UDP: 7790, 7791, 7792, 8777, 7666,

TCP/UDP: 27900

You probably will only need 7790-7792 and 27900 open.

Also if you have a router and use XP firewall, don't worry, just disable XP firewall. Your router will most likely give you enough protection. Especially if you have NAT (like me!)

Also if it helps, Netgear's DG834G modem/router is a nice, intuitive and (for me) very reliable router.
