Installing and configuring multiplayerhome / Knowledge Base / Multiplayer general / Installing and configuring multiplayerStep 1You need this step only if your Deus Ex doesn't have multiplayer installed (all "Deus Ex GOTY" versions have it installed by default). If you have it installed, proceed to "Step 2". To enable multiplayer you need an official multiplayer patch, that will upgrade your Deus Ex to the version "1112fm". Besides adding multiplayer support, the patch fixes some minor bugs in singleplayer too.
Download and install it to your Deus Ex. In case the installer doesn't find Deus Ex installed on your computer and you're sure that Deus Ex is installed, follow these steps (do this only if automatic installation didn't work!):
Step 2To play the game, launch your Deus Ex and go to the main menu. In the bottom of the menu there should be a button, called "Multiplayer".
Click on it, then go to "Player settings". In "Player settings", you may specify your nickname, connection type and whether you want to see help messages.
Note that Deus Ex doesn't identify your connection type by default and you should set the option by yourself. It's important to set the connection type in Deus Ex accordingly to your real connection. And the faster the speed is in that connection type setting, the smoother your multiplayer game will run. Then return to "Multiplayer" menu and find "Augmentation Setup". You may setup augmentations as described in the picture below:
After changing settings, you may join the multiplayer game. Deus Ex community is quite small, so most likely you will not find a server in your local area, i.e. in "LAN Game" window. Try "Internet Game". The process of joining to the server may take some time, because most of the servers have many modifications (we call them "mods") installed and you need to have them on your computer too. In this case Deus Ex will show you a message about downloading a file. If downloading has broken in the middle or the connection failed press "F10" button (you can see it on the top of your keyboard), then press "Esc" button (you can see it in the top left part of the keyboard) to enable the main menu and try another server. | |||||||||
