Schizophrenia can actually be many things, multiple minds, split personality, whatever. Me Myself and Irene really didn't cover it too well. All the symptoms shown help categorise which type you are diagnosed with, whether it be Catatonic, Paranoid, Disorganised or even undifferentiated, where the symptoms don't fit into a particular category. Schizophrenia tends to be different to everyone, with some people suffering from positive symptoms, such as thought disturbances orrrr hallucinations, perhaps delusions. Now before you start up about 'how can those be positive', let me explain. They are known as positive as they allow the brain to function above the standard working level, whereas negative symptoms, perhaps avolition or flat effect, mean that the brain is functioning below working level.

Now that we're straight, the diagnosis of schizophrenia is normally finalised after a patient has shown 1 or more positive symptoms for around one month. This can be matched with evidence for 2 negative symptoms, or even secondary symptoms, if positive symptoms are not shown.
One psychologist conducted a study in which sane participants were sent to asylums complaining of 'hearing voices' when they were fine, and acted fine after they had been admitted to hospital. However, they were held for at least 60 days. With this unreliable diagnostic system, I am not at ALL surprised by the figures presented, especially as people are known to imitate the behaviour of other schizophrenia sufferers in everyday life and hospitals, which explains how the number of patients can quickly double, in hospitals, over a short period of time.

This isn't proof read, written purely out of my interest for the subject and to put you 'copy and paste'rs) to rest. Seeing as you ALL 'know' what schizophrenia is.

No, because UK isn't a country. You spread it to Scotland and their invention of deep fried mars bars.

Yep. Us northeners die at a younger age aswell than all the southern puffs as we eat good, hearty grub such as a fry-up every morning! I think it was found that Hull is the fattest city in the UK, Knowsley, Merseyside was 2nd and Blackburn 3rd.

Top 10 fattest:

1) Hull
2) Knowsley
3) Blackburn
4) South Tyneside
5) County Durham
6) Merthyr Tydfil, Wales
7) Blaenau Gwent, Wales
8 ) Stoke
9) Pendle, Lancs
10) Middlesbrough

Not one southern city in the top 10!

Battered mars bars, I don't ever want to try one. It's a mars bar in batter, cooked EURGH!

Did some stupid scots say "mmm this chocolate thing has so much fat, lets add more fat by BATTERING IT!"

Anyways, even us fatty Americans don't eat that type of shit. They stopped making Mars Bars here anyway.
