In my opinion, respect is earned not given. Just because you've played longer doesn't mean you should get respect at the flick of a wrist. It doesn't work like that.

You get respect for the actions you make. I respect you Hybrid, because you were the first person I actually met randomly in a server. And you took the time to teach me some good techniques, key bindings, ect and I actually remember alot of them (even though I'm still a newb at DX and don't play often enough now).

However, I'm not going to respect some random I don't know (whether physically or over the net), because they haven't earned my respect. Though if they did something deserving of my respect, they would get it.

I don't believe the saying "Respect your Elders." I believe everyone should be respected unless that person has done something which would result in people losing respect towards him/her.

I believe everyone should be treated as an equal, everyone should get just as much respect as anyone else - that is to say, everyone should get no respect unless it's truly earned and it's earned honestly.

If someone expected me to respect some old guy across the street because he's my elder, I wouldn't. Because I don't know him, the same goes if someone wanted me to respect them because they've played Deus Ex since DXMP was made and released.

Respect does not work like that. Again, if you want respect, then you go out and earn it like everyone else has to.

Ranting in my opinion, is different. Ranting is meant to express your feelings with constructive criticism. When ranting, you should not intend to insult someone else as that is called flaming.

I believe that anyone can critisize a MOD (for example) they don't like, as long it's constructive. So saying "I didn't like this MOD because it was too small" is fine (in my opinion), but saying something more along the lines like "This MOD sucked ass, it should be deleted and the creator shot." is not acceptable - that is flaming.

I mean, if I was a new person, and I wanted to play augs, would you supply me with demorecs and binds and all that? Without modders, then games get boring - fast. Things such as modded weapons, new weapons, enhanced graphics, more multi-player styles, ect enhance the game and not only do players benefit but so do the creator(s) because they get to watch people actually enjoy their work.

The same principle with modders goes with mappers, though they may not need as much skill as modders, they still need decent skill to make new and exciting maps that people will actually enjoy viewing, downloading and essentially - playing.

Without all three of these, games would die out much quicker than they do and DX would've died out long ago. Hence, why I believe they're all equally important.

I was referring to DXMP players. SP players are there to test out our maps and mods, because most MP players do not want to and instead want to play the same old boring original gametype.

However, I believe that I (for example) have the right to think highly of augs and augging just like mappers might think highly of map creation or non-auggers think highly of 0-augs. That's true. However, there are people who do like DXMP mods. I for one, like both DXSP and DXMP mods but yes, I admit I do like SP mods more. And naturally people would, because those usually contain a Storyline to them.

Though remember, DXSP players are still players none-the-less. When I say the word "player," I mean all who play a game. This includes people who play the Single Player of it and/or the Multi-Player version, either way they still do play the game and use either mods or maps to get the full gaming experience.
