The trouble is, no-one can host it 24/7, and no-one really wants to pay for a server.

I think he's still uptight about his augs v 0-augs thing, but I guess it's worth a shot. I'm sure he as well as anyone else would be willing to repent for his wrong-doings.

I think you will find that FREE hosting is only for classic DXMP augged gametype... definitely there is a technical objection on Deja's part to DXSG on account of the superweapons using "too much" cpu and DXSG won't ever be hosted free on a Slovenian uni server.

I would say DXAG is worth a shot with Deja, but some ppl round here aren't exactly trying to reconcile with him, so that doesn't help matters at all. I think there is a strong case for him hosting DXAG because it is a nice way to introduce augmentations and teach people about particular augs. Also, unlike the DXSG team, the DXAG team have managed to complete new maps, so therefore DXAG is far more likely to win a chance. I got my server for two reasons, I agreed to host classic augged DXMP and I worked very hard and produced 13 maps and offered space to other mappers, which currently includes Dae and Ste and possibly Magus and Max when they gets around to it and Jon, if he fixes the ladders or makes another map with repairbots.

The current situation of guests on party/funline servers coming to servers he hosts, and gepping their team, every time said server gets busier than theirs does not help either. Banning me off Dogny's was just stupid. To be frank, very few of you are giving him any reason to deal with you at all. Remember I was one of the strongest opponents of DejaVu, but I've learned we need to work with each to keep DXMP attractive to new players.

One thing is for sure. 0-aug servers like Sunny Side, DXMS and XPS are not the problem, there is a quality to the maps and admins there. I know for sure that Deja would rather see DXAG up high in the server list, than some crappy, laggy, newb admin server where unarmed beginners are being killed by ppl with weps. People putting up temporary servers, usually clan servers, with every clan member logged in as admin, with maps that are ancient or too newb for the top of the list, is not going to help DXMP either...

It's up to you as a community... go figure.
And Kaiden, you are wrong, if at least one [A] member is willing to pay for DXAG/DXSG, then I and others will contribute too... I'd be glad too...Just whoever you are, stop bitching my server and causing shit there, then u will find Deja is more willing to deal with people that "hate" him...

Exactly.. "Willing to pay" why would someone spend money on a server that will not become popular for some weeks after the hosting (As was the case when DXAG/SG was first hosted).

But, how much are you talking about for a 24/7 server for several months? (£ please).

I hosted DXAG for two weeks and most of the time i had a full server. I didnt want to host it cause, I had an advantage over others with ping. Most of the time i played as Medic. So i ask if somebody else could they host it. I loved DXAG when it was up. When it was up i remember having to wait for somebody to leave to play it. I would like to see it up again. Thats why i asked and i had it for my server. To see how players react to it. Most players didnt play it before. Their reply is, that they like it to. This is one of the best mods and the game shows teamwork.

DXAG is besides palmtreesCTF mode one of the best dxmp mods made in my opinion.

ill put on a 24 slot DXAG server under 2 conditions:
- the newest version
- the source (i wanna see it, make it public or give it just to me)

Yeah XPS, exactly the point, it requires teamwork... but a lone wolf can also own the game...

It was like Jonesy said, they dominated the terrain, but I ownt them... 1 v 6 for the whole game, nice ping but 10 fps. I like DXAG for the teamwork, the classes and also Mainman's map Landenau is just about the best ever player-made map I saw.

Well I can understand why server hoster wants to see source, I can also understand why clan said no... ther u have it.

The thing about DXAG that players do to it? Do you remember, everyone switches teams in the last 5 minutes to the winning team...

If it was a server hoster, I'd possibly think about giving the souce, but in Dejavu's case that's chanceless.

This community is to seperated. The game isn't doing well. We need to stick together, share ideas and items. Learn from each other. Not hide from others. How can we improve? Without others knowing our work.

I think that nothing is free, If say 4-6 of you pay towards a server its not gonna be expensive like 5 euro each per month.

I also would like to say that even though im a augger i feel FGS is a wicked server and ive always got time for shadowrunner, thx for hosting my map xD. Got some great maps on that server most enjoyable. DXAG was super popular and for me i didnt like it, it changed dx too much. BUT with that said the server was uber popular so thats good too.

I will have a look at my current bandwidth usage and see if i can help out on my box. Theres a few servers i run which dont get used.

Im not promising but theres a fair chance i might be able to help out with a server 14-16 slots.

Good point about sharing XPS...if only everyone held that view. Some ppl are generous, e,g, dxms share knowledge etc... and some ppl are newbs and will steal bodies and biocells... It's why I offer to host other mappers...

I think Ste is right, between 10 ppl it would be truly peanuts...

When we keep our coding hidden, it stays unique. Sure, we do share some sources, I recently shared a source of one of my mods, but in a private forum, which can only be accessed by certain people.

the source? lol. You can't make a demand for requesting the source of the mod, as if you were the only one who could host a 24/7 server.

How willing would you be to share all of your work? Not much I'd doubht.

And I'd disagree. The rates of a Gd server are costly enough and even more for a GM one. If 4 player split the cost between them for a high enough gm slot it would be about 12 euro per paying contributor, while brining a good server.

to whole community, hidding sources means nothing. there are maybe few possible coders that would show their talent when seeing some popular mods inside, firstly mod them a little, then a bit more until start making their own mods. but in dxmp, only rare, mostly old mods do have source code with.

what i think about you nobody is this: you still have MM source code... but you wouldnt give it to anyone (except A of course), bcos then if theres one smart ass that changes "made by Nobody" into "made by XYZ", you would be so angry and whole your life would be destroyed, cos someone stealed your source!!! damn, thats so hard to live with. i wonder when you guys would grow up and realize that uc isnt worth a peace of shit! you cant even sell uc source, cos its owned by eidos. i said on FGS forums already, with this attitude, you are only working for your own asses. you are big EGOS, you care about your own reputation only, not for future well being of dxmp.
