So my mother was just watching some show that showed mosques that preach hate. Now she is convinced all muslims are evil.

My mother is such a fucking sheep.

I've got my fair share of Muslim friends. I go to their houses often, I respect their religion, they respect that I don't have a religion. When one of my muslim friends decides to come into my house, I know that my mum will look at them differently now, because of ignorant TV shows like this. (It's happened before, she watched something on White Supremacists and when I had a small gathering she checked the house twice to check if anything was stolen and made sure I wasn't carrying any guns.)

Muslims and Islam in general, Black Youth Culture, White Supremacy, all of them are documented on TV -- Only showing the bad potential there is. If Political Correctness has gone so damn mad (Apparently.) then why the hell can't we show the GOOD in people as well as the BAD in people. the Media has such power in todays world yet they wield it terribly.

Scientologists aren't necessarily freaks. However we are told time and time again that they are. Ergo they must all be crazy right?

The world of TV is selective as to what it broadcasts.
Like saying that GTA games encourage violence, despite the fact that after every GTA game release, youth crime figures dropped.
It makes you think what their true interests are. If they're saying "x died, y blew up, z was murdered in a v killing, b flooded, oil prices are up again", you will eventually become paranoid of the world at large, and stay at home, pumping money into the pockets of TV executives.

They're bashing the internet and video games for similar reasons. At least I think so.

It just takes me as it did last time as a bit of a shock, that she could be this silly, I mean, she knows I play some of the most violent video games known to man, Kill Bill is my favourite film, I had a replica Benelli M4 in my room (my uncle gave it to me) until I scared the shit out of her with it (she was groggy one morning, I pounced out in my SWAT halloween costume with it right at her face, she nearly shat herself.) and various other things that could probably influence me if I wasn't fairly sound of mind.

Yet this completely brainwashes her in an hour.

It just doesn't click.

Perhaps she is extremely skilled at trolling.

ok i got my share of thinking about this, im not afraid to tell it, I HATE MUSLIMS PAKIS MARROCO PPL FROM AFRICA, i really hate them NOT ALL... i have respect for those who come to where i live and learn the language and find a job, those ppl i respect, BUT NOT THOSE WHO COME TO LIVE ON OUR TAXES WITH OUR GOUVERMENT ARMS WIDE OPEN. i hope u see this point

Anyhoo - my perspective:

My very best and closest friend - whom I have been friends with since the age of 4 (I'm now 20) - just so happens to be a homosexual, ugly, black, short-arse Muslim. He also happens to be one of the nicest people I have EVER met in my life.

I will have to admit, I'm slightly homophobic (I'd never go 'queer bashing' but I just don't like what they 'do') and also I'm fairly racist, although I blame the latter on the incessant sociological pressure put on society by the biggest evil of all - mainstream fucking media.

Anyhoo where was I? Oh yeah, me Mate... he's honestly the coolest, most peaceful, generous, caring, honest and 'to your face' kinda guy. I don't like that he's gay, I don't like that his parents are devout, Quran-toting Muslims who force the religion down his throat, I don't like how his breath constantly seems to smell of onions, and I don't like how he tries it on when drunk, but that dude wouldn't hurt a fly, and neither would any of his (Muslim) friends. EVER. In fact, I'd vouch for that.

Now, I had another friend once, who was all "blah blah blah Muslims are fine you're just racist" and stuff - so she bought me a copy of the Qu'ran in English. I read the whole thing. There is NOTHING explicitly telling Muslims to be violent. I have to say, it does tend to imply it a bit, and it is a bit "fire and brimstone" but.... err... so is the Bible.... (well the old testament moreso)...

Anyhoo - my point is that the common misconceptions surrounding Muslims/Pakis is ON THE WHOLE wrong.

There are the minority, but the minority of Muslims who go out and bomb stuff just coz "some bearded cunt in a dress said to" are the same type of people as the two "lovely little English boys" who beat 2 year old James Bullinger's head in on a train track, and left him there to die, just coz it happened in Child's Play (a movie... y'know... Chucky)

What I'm saying (albeit clumsily) is: Well, we need to:

1. Spread awareness of the MAJORITY (and it IS the majority) of Muslims who are for the most part decent people.
2. Stamp out the fanatical bastards who bomb stuff and kill their kiddies for marrying the wrong dude(tte).
3. Stop watching the BBC, coz it sucks major saggy ballbags.
