It is pretty queer. Although I do use some female avatars in RPG games it is nothing like pretending you're actually a girl on a online community.

A lot of guys pretend to be female to have more advantage. While being female in this forum is only a downside, since we never trust it and we demand proof.

I believe the border for me is where you have a female avatar for rpg and where you actually let others know you as a person are also female. Majority of female avatars in games are male to begin with.
If you state that you are of opposite sex then it does begin to get slightly perverted.
All in all it may even equal with the question of whether or not a transsexual is a homosexual or not.
As homosexuality and trans-sexuality become more common or endorsed by the society, one really has to ponder whether or not many of them arent similar attention seekers, perhaps even unknowingly.
