I don't know any of you any more. The ones that are still around from back when I was really really active have either changed
a lot or I never knew them that well. GeneralJoey, AussieFella, Doughboy, KingJ, Fireball/Zarger, HDS, Zephron, Shogun, Splitter, Blek, DarkKnight, Geddiz, Konami, Bobodaknifa, Bob, Marco (AlexDenton) and others, all gone. Look through the memberlist sorted by joined date, ascending. How many of those guys on the first couple pages are still around? GODZ clan? Gone. Shit, for the most part, GODZ
made the DXMP modding community into what it is today.
I guess I'm not the same person I used to be. At all. I just looked at my old deviantart account (
http://dec10.deviantart.com/), and I have no idea how I did some of that. And it's not even
good.
This clan and these forums don't have the same vibe they used to have. Before, the noobs were noobs, and eventually they got to the point where they knew what's what. Now, it seems like the noobs never grow out of it because everyone else is just glad to have people
interested in the game. That's sad. Deus Ex is practically dead. Every time I check out DXMP, there's a handful of people playing. In the
WORLD. When I started playing multiplayer in 2003 I guess it was, I thought the game was on the decline. All these clans (DEA, AK, B, I, etc) full of fucking elite players I knew I could never touch were winding down. They're gone. You can't have a gaming community if nobody plays the game. It doesn't work.
I really hope Deus Ex 3 comes out in full force on the PC with multiplayer right off the bat, because that's the only thing that'll bring the vibe back. These forums are like a crackhead who needs his fix. It just doesn't feel right.
On a personal note, check the new tunes at myspace.com/russellfavrettrio. The drummer and guitarist both got essentially full rides to Florida State University for jazz; the drummer was one of six in the country that got a live audition at Juilliard. This is what I do; this is what I love. Modding was straight, but I grew out of that. I can't grow out of music.
