My mother ran upstairs afterward having seen it, and desperately needed confirmation that my world wasn't entirely that bad. She knows people get stabbed, robbed etc, underage pregnancies left right and center - but my mother is pretty damn young.
So she's not entirely out of touch.
Now think of all those kids who have parents that ARE that out of touch? And you wonder why shit happens.
The news delivers reality in short bursts, funny. The News is supposed to inform people.
