Why Microsoft employ inbred programmers.

Now we could all rant about Microsoft's incredible stupidity with the decisions they've made in the past but this is a fairly recent one: Windows 7 Release Candidate.

To continue using Windows 7 (as many of you already know) one must download and install Build 7100 before August 2009. There is no problem with that because it means we can all continue using this profoundly stable operating system. However, who thought it would be in everyone's best interest that one can't upgrade Windows 7 ON Windows 7? Instead Windows Vista is required. But not only that, Service Pack 1 is needed!

Probably all of you Vista users have installed it and can easily go from there. But not me! You see for some bizarre reason it will not install. It will reach 99% and then uninstall itself. Apparently it's to do with McAfee and that it does not like Microsoft updates. So I gladly uninstalled it, tried it again and.....the same! Bear in mind that each attempt takes around 2-3 hours.

Now I ask you, what is wrong with being able to update it USING THE FUCKING OPERATING SYSTEM YOU'RE TRYING TO UPDATE?!

Thoughts, feelings or advice I could try.

What the hell? Since when did they have that? I could update fine from the beta, but seriously WHAT THE FUCK? Were they like stoned when they made that bloody "feature"?

Furthermore: What about XP users?

"You cannot upgrade from this prerelease version of Windows 7. Go online to see how you can migrate to Windows 7 while keeping files and settings".

That's all well and good....but WHERE IS THE WINDOWS 7 OPTION?!

It appears some people have the same issue and have been given links to this poorly constructed Google Groups URL.

Have you not actually read the title of the thread?

It's to do with the idiotic way one must upgrade to the Release Candidate, not about the operating system itself.

Wake up, man!

And I am Tantalus......Spidey.

Why not just install RC1 in the same partition as Beta, but overriding the preexisting one?

That way all your old files and shit will be in a folder called Windows.old.

Still...

Yeah, can't upgrade so it appears I have to do a clear install and backup everything from the beta...

Or they could have just thought that people who use the RC are the ones who use the beta.
