Seriously what was with everyone (including me) getting one yesterday?

Because theyve been like gold dust for the last 2 months. I was on a waiting list for 8 weeks before I finally got mine. Think the stock has just caught up with the demand recently

I'm thinking of buying Desire (or some Android-based device) for the sake of curiosity.

I've read some cons about it:
— alarm doesn't work when the phone is off;
— low music playback quality;
— no EQ;
— many, but mostly useless apps;
— battery life is not too good.

True/false? Comments?

I googled it, it seems that it's not an actual client yet some sort of a remote control. It also exists for iphone.

Battery life is slow like all new phones. Friend says after a month it's just like any other phone.

Find music playback quality on my HTC tattoo to be fairly decent imo

I dont use it for music. Only problem I'd say is the battery life, but I'm never too far away from somewhere to charge it. And HTC realised this so made the charger epicly small.

You did good taiwan. You did good.

the iphone 4 does have a large battery, and is efficient with task management...

-but that's probably because it's not REAL task management.

That thing you're talking about is a widget, think its called power management or something. Just long press on an empty screen, goto widget and then click power management. Voila.

I'm also looking for a new phone, like everyone else on this forum :oops:

I'd prefer a phone with QWERTY or hybrid, as long as it doesn't rely too much on the touch. Also not too fond of iphone and android as OS. Any recommendations?

Yeah I got it down to symbian or blackberry pretty much. Can't really find an up to date article about comparisons though, last one I read dated all the way back to 2007. Any reasons for picking blackberry over symbian or the other way around?

Nokia's build quality is questionable at times and I've heard that some versions of Symbian, depending on the version, can feel clunky at times.
Signatures are dumb.

I had the Nokia N97, i HATED it. The software was slow, if you tried to do more than one thing it hated you. It has a massive hdd but if you have too much stuff on it, it slows down, not intuitive to use.

Don't go for Nokia.

Don't go for E72/E71. Bad build quality, bugs in software.

Good that you mention it, the E72 looked tempting for me :oops: Are there many apps for the blackberry?

Edit:
yes there are.

Been looking at the available blackberry phones here, thinking of going for the 9700 Bold, anyone got experience with that one?

One of my Nokia slide phones got SO bad to the point where the firmware wouldn't load if you didn't simultaneously jam two option keys while powering on.

Fuck Nokia.

Also my background for Desire:
