Theres no meaning of life because of existance of death. You born, reach something in your life and sooner of later, you die like any creature. Since i'm an atheist, i don't believe that theres something after our death, like life. After death our bodies rot, with our brain, mind, soul. We don't exist anymore, thats how it ends. It's hard to live with that when you're an atheist. That's why people made up religions, to resurrect a fake meaning of life in our minds. Until theres no evident proof in existance of God, i will not believe in it.
And you can have a goal in your life or not, its your business

Being known all over the world and living forever in the memory of the living. Shakespear will never die, Einstein will never die. I know thats a main goal of mine, and i know countless people who want to be "famous for something", because they are afraid of dissapearing completely.
I, myself, beleive that there is something after death, a good or a bad 'thing' i obviously don't know. Life would be pointless otherwise, there is no point in living if there is nothing to live for (maybe thats why we make goals for ourselves during life, because we know/think that there is no ultimate goal in life), and i'm always optimistic. I am an atheist also, because i know "God" is just a cussion to soften the blow of death, but this universe is just too big to NOT have something wierd going on in it. I suppose we will all find out one day...
