Grunger wrote:oh god, i always love it when other countries bash the US, it always makes me laugh. take cureless_poision's rant, that was pretty damn funny. all people bitch about is everyone in america, it's like they know every single person. It's never PART of america or the MAJORITY, it always has to be every single person that's from the US. yes, our government is horrible, most of us know that. yes, we know that our country gets a bad rep for sticking it's nose in foreign affairs, most of us don't agree to this. just because our government does whatever they fell like, doesn't make every person in america bad. they're are a lot of dumb people from america, we won't lie, but there are also a lot of smart people too. america is just a place where people from all of the world come to, and at this point, every race is so diverse here that there are so many different views that everyone has. No person is the exact same as another, they may have the same views, but their personalities aren't the same. you can't just judge a whole group of people at once by someone's actions (our government). when other countries judge us like that, they're only showing prejudice against our country. showing prejudice to another country just makes you guys look like bad people. that's why no one should ever be judged by someone else, all it does is just create problems and it makes you who judged look like a bad person.
Finally, SOMEONE has some sense. Thank you for that.

I'm going to be nice and break down your post and show you the parts that make you American, and thus have a notch of respect taken off.
Major stereotype of "typical" American. Still think your perfect "ideas" are actually true? No. They are generalizations.
You are noticing discrimination against Americans, only because you are American. You do not stop to take note of the descrimination being handed out by US.
Discrimination? Some people in the world hate foreigners granted, but it seems ALL foreigners hate the US. Again, you can call this "one-sided", but you have no theory of relation and relevance to back it up, thus forming a paradox upon yourself.
An over drama filled exampled. Yet another hallmark of being American - everything has to be a drama.
A hallmark? An act of an American? You are totally one-sided in this argument. You speak in general of the characteristics of ALL american citizens, the generalization of what they ALL think and what they ALL do. Sure, you may not be able to distinct views upon each and every citizen of the United States, but you are nothing more than another anti-American activist trying to portray propaganda against a hyperpower country.
I talk to a good few US peeps and based liking them on them - not their country of origin. Being aware of their origin allows me to simply put up with the shit for less amount of time if they are jackarses.
Now you come up with another generalization; all Americans produce "bullshit" and are "jackarses" when it comes to conflicts. A major generalization based solely on Americans; thus proving my point, you are indeed one-sided.
If someone talks to you and everything goes well, then suddenly they hate you because you're from the US, then your choice in MSN buddies is lacking, because he/she wasn't much chop to begin with.
Not all, but some British people have a long history of conflicts with the US; therefore the relevance of them being your buddy but then hating you has actually nothing to do with the quality of a friend they are.
You start well - "Why do you hate the US?". You then move onto a well intitled defence against over generalisation, but then it's hallmark American.
Major generalization; you can point out characteristics or so called "hallmarks" of an American, yet you do not have any background characteristics or ideology, therefore "first impressions" can be a handful, and when you use it properly, perhaps there might be no conflicts here. (I don't think that's proper usage of first impressions tbh) I could be an Israelite or a Spaniard and still have the same characteristics. Hallmarks are not "genetic" in Americans; thus you cannot use it as a reason to recognize Americans.
All Americans have such a hard time understanding the legit reasons why the US is hated around the world, so they assume that no one could possibly hate the US, so we must be at fault - even though you stated most of the world hates the US, this has to tell you something.
Now thats the biggest generalization of Americans I have seen. "All" americans. All Americans. If you'd be so kind as to not be an ignorant Aussie, there are people who actually wrote books on this political turmoil. The word "ALL" is infact a major stereotype. There are actually no real "legit" reasons; only views and disagreements upon its normally-stereotyped "imperialism" and "chauvanism".
No, we don't have to have respect for him, because he is not the most powerful man in the world; That is an over arrogant American talking. He has his finger on nukes? So what? You launch nukes, they launch nukes, you're all fucked.(Australia survives!)
If you don't respect him, then you have to recognize that he technically
is the most powerful man in the world. Nukes at the press of a button indeed, and moreso; strong military, strategic military tactics, etc etc. He is, in fact, the most powerful man in the world. Nuclear arms do not stand as "pointless"; they represent the power and reflect how much power he has. Don't go thinking this is a threat; Bush would have good reasons to do so. (And first he'd have to declare war, which he can't, only the Legislative branch could, so technically THEY have their palms on nukes, Bush just controls them. Do your research!)
This is another example of Americans, assuming that; A) The rest of the world thinks the way Americans do. B) Americans use logic. C) You're actually right in your facts.
A - No, I never did say that nor do you have any solid or considerable evidence to prove it. In fact, you are trying to think like a normal american; so you vice-versa'd what you just said on yourself!
B - That is just clear offensive. Americans DO use logic. You are the most self-advocated, arrogant anti-American I have met.
C - Goes to show that you also declare that you presume you are right in your facts; thus forming another paradox which will continue unless you properly state your facts and real, reasonable opinions instead of incredible stereotypes like this one.
Again, as an American, you are assuming to know what we think. By defending against your descrimination, you are in fact descriminating against us. You assume everyone here thinks all Americans are of a sterotype you defined, which is wrong.
And therefore you are discriminating me again, stating what you think I think and my ideology and all American's ideology; this will form a never-ending paradox of discrimination in which you keep restating but at the same time keep refueling.
Americans are typically much stupider.
(>.>)
As are Aussies.
(<.<)
You must see your arrogance and ignorance through example. You'd feel no offense discriminating Americans; but you do not see their side of view. Sorry, but you are indeed one-sided; you also produce mass stereotypes and generalizations.
Don't go counterarguing saying that I am not thinking in your view as well; I am verbally defending opinions on the US.
You see, while the world currently relies on the US for a good few things, if Russia was to nuke your arse, the world would re-adjust, but survive. It is this major fact that America refuses to grasp; the world could do with out America, and in some cases, would be better off with out it.
This case would happen again; you are not seeing the results. Russia can nuke us but they can then become the single most hyperpower that dominates. Over time, they will do this same act that they did with Americans; if not, then the world is being selective to discriminate Americans without real proof. Do without america, yes, but you'd be virtually creating your own America; or really, your own superpower; Russia itself. Don't tell me that Russia is perfect and it won't make the same mistakes US has made; over time it, too, will repeat these mistakes and therefore create another major superpower. You could continue this with all the countries in the world, this chain would ultimately lead to total hypocrisy.
China has a terrible history of workers rights. Shame on China. But China doesn't hire the workers; The American company too cheap to pay an extra $1 to get it made in the US is paying the workers. It is better to be a chinese worker and work for a Europian company then it is an American.
To get it made in the US? The US isn't overly populated; and we did not hire Chinese, Indo-Australians and Eastern Asians to do work for us; they in fact, volunteered, as there are a mass population in China and they have to work to feed their families, regardless of the currency.
Shame on these 3rd world companies for dumping toxic waste into the ocean. Shame shame shame. But who's waste is it? Why, it's American toxic waste, of course!
That, again, is another major generalizations. Look at Chernobyl, my friend; Look at Bhopal, look at all the major enviromental damages in the world; points to Russia and Europe. "OMG ITS AMERICAN WASTE FROM A RUSSIAN NUCLEAR LAB LOl!!!"
Finally; For people that come from a country that has "Free Speach" (Although we all know thats bullshit), you are quick to start calling us unsavoury names for voicing our opinions.
As are you discriminating me for voicing out; "arrogant American", "blindly patriotic".
Take in fact that in no way do I support the US government; I am defending against mass discriminations of the people.
