So, I'm seeing lots of "art" nowadays, specifically all this computer abstract shit, that's not really art. I don't consider it art because:

1. You don't have to put much thought into it.
2. You don't really have to have talent to produce it, you just have to know a process.
3. There's not much variation in the shapes and forms. It's all round things or all straight things, etc.

Opinions?

Computer abstract art is a mean of individiuality. In no way is two abstract pieces alike, and they are meant to hold together a key of uniqueness and originality. C4D abstract shapes your own idea, it's not just a process at all, you can form it anyway you want, the beautiful thing about it is that there are no restrictions, you can make it anyway you want and any shape you want.

IMO, Art is a form of expression.

Painting is a way ofr expressing your self.

Sculturing is a way of expressing your self.

Wood turning is a way of expressing your self.

I see no reason why digital art doesn't fall into the same catagory. Sure there are a lot of carbon copies, but there are also unique ones out there.

That's completely retarded. Do you even realise what you're talking about..? Do you realise how many possibilities, styles, and more importantly, techniques are included into the broad generic term of 'modern art?'

Modern art doesn't have to be throwing paint onto a canvas whilst blindfolded.

Next time think what you're talking about before you pull out some more uneducated crap.

I think KBo means only abstract digital art, not a whole digital art sphere.

That picture isn't abstract >_>

It has a definite subject which is portrayed as-it-is.

If it wasn't called "a death of a planet" (I have noticed the name only after your message) I wouldn't ever guess that it's about death of a planet =/

Some extremely knowledgable sad-act, who had nothing to do but study what we know as the "Mona Lisa" might have found out that it was about Mona Lisa, and put an extremely odd name to it. :?

I wouldn't know that it was a woman called Mona Lisa of course, but I would have certainly recognised a woman with a strange smile on the drawing.

Yes, but you only don't know that the "death of a planet" image is a death of a planet, because we have never seen the death of a planet. If we had, it would be obvious to us what it was.

For example: If a person had never seen a cow, and someone showed him a picture of a cow, he could not say it was abstract, just because he didn't know what it was.

Good point. But at least we all imagine how planets look like and how space looks like.

kBo, Define what you mean.

Sticking one brush on a blank canvas in photoshop, Is still art.

However, Sticking hundreds of complex designs, brushes, and images in a good looking manner IS art.

Prepare to get owned by Derek's c4d.

http://www.deviantart.com/view/35160176/

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35464164/

These are what Kbo's possibly talking about. Abstract art in digital art. It's not just a process, it's a unique form of art that can be turned into ANYTHING.

Let me clarify. I have no problem with the end result. It's just that when you just click and drag a preset shape and add some noise filters and call it "art".

I've seen so many "make 3d abstract art" tutorials that just tell you to throw together some preset shapes and add some filters and meshsmooth or whatever.

Speaking of which, Derek, I'd love to see a step-by-step tutorial for one of your pieces. That shit is incredible.
